[00:00:00] Speaker A: It is now disclaimer time. [00:00:02] Speaker B: We are here to share Prince's works with the utmost authenticity, clarity, and precision. This means there may be situations where the material being discussed may be sensitive or offensive to some. However, we have chosen to discuss his work as it was initially produced. We will not alter any of his original work to suit anyone's comfort, including our own. This podcast is to celebrate Prince and his works. [00:00:29] Speaker C: Thank you for your support and understanding. Now onto the show. [00:00:35] Speaker D: Hello. Welcome to Alphabet Suite podcast for the Prince songbook. There are hundreds of songs to choose from. You have chosen ain't nobody stop. [00:00:45] Speaker E: Ain't nobody stop. It is that time again, people. It is time for the next episode of the Alphabet Suite podcast. I am your host with the most pat. [00:01:05] Speaker A: I am your co host. Co host, Timothy. [00:01:10] Speaker E: Got it. [00:01:11] Speaker C: There is a weird synchronistic moment right there when you said, I am the host, and I'm just like, he's gonna say, what the most est? And there it is. [00:01:19] Speaker E: There it was. I'm producer Aaron Roga. Today, since we are all in sync and ready to rock and roll, I'm telling you, we ain't about to stop. [00:01:37] Speaker A: That was good. [00:01:38] Speaker E: That was good, wasn't it? We're gonna be talking about ain't about to stop by princess, because we ain't about to stop. [00:01:49] Speaker A: I like that. [00:01:50] Speaker E: You like that? [00:01:51] Speaker A: Mm hmm. [00:01:52] Speaker E: So, this is from hit and run phase one. And I was, overall, I was not a fan of the hit and run albums. They. They had gems on them, but as a whole, I did not like them. [00:02:10] Speaker A: Really? [00:02:11] Speaker E: Yeah. This was one of the ones that I thought was a gem. I really like this one, but, yeah, I was not a fan of most of hit and run, phase one or phase two. [00:02:24] Speaker A: Hmm. [00:02:26] Speaker C: Okay. [00:02:27] Speaker E: Right. Did you like those albums? Yeah, both of them. [00:02:29] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:02:29] Speaker E: Didn't you? [00:02:30] Speaker A: I mean, there was a few things on there I didn't, you know, but, yeah, for the most part. [00:02:37] Speaker E: So this one was initially supposed to be for Rita Ora, and they recorded it. So then what sucks is there is a version of her singing this because they. They streamed a snippet of it on Yahoo. I don't have the snippet, nor can I find her version with the vocals. Now I have her sing it live with Prince. I've heard that. And she does do the backing vocals on Prince's version. So I have an idea of what it sounds like, but I do not have the actual song. And it's. It's hard because it seems like the later stuff that he did. It's harder to get, and I shouldn't even be trying to get it, but it's hard to get the bootleg version. It's harder to find them. You know, the earlier stuff seemed to get out of Paisley Park a lot easier than later stuff. I don't know. Or it's just I quit buying them, so I don't know. But I don't have her version, and there's no samples, no covers, no nothing. So it's just his version and her version from everything I've researched. [00:03:51] Speaker A: Horrible, man. [00:03:52] Speaker E: Yeah. [00:03:53] Speaker A: That sucks. [00:03:54] Speaker E: Yeah. And I, like, I'm not, I don't know, Rita ora, like, really well, but when, when I heard her sing it live with him, she sounded really good. [00:04:06] Speaker A: Mm hmm. [00:04:08] Speaker C: You know, I know that name. [00:04:11] Speaker E: Rita aura. Yeah. [00:04:13] Speaker C: Don't know why, though. [00:04:15] Speaker E: Well, I know she's, she's, like, a popular singer, so I couldn't tell you what she's done, but I've heard the name quite a bit, so. But, yeah, the song is really good. It it was really kind of for me, and I don't know why I thought this. Maybe it's just because my mind does some stupid things, but when it starts and it's got that, like, arabic feel, my mind jumped back to around the world with, you know, that. And then it also went to his time with Maite when he, you know, a lot of his music had that arabic feel. And then it goes into that, that heavy beat driven, you know, techno y. But then while he's doing that, you can still hear that little Arabic. And then I'm so thinking to myself, I'm like, I wonder if he's, like, thinking of Maite as he was writing this song, you know? Cause the song itself, in reality, would have been okay without those little arabic feel, the sounds that he did. So I'm wondering if maybe at some point in time, he was, I personally think, like, towards the end of his life, which this stuff was done towards the end of his life, I think he was really starting to know the end was coming. I actually saw an interview or read an interview. I can't remember which one it was talking to Taika, his sister, and she said that she was talking to him just, like, three years before he died, which is right around the time this song was written. And he told her, he's like, my time here is done. I've done everything I'm supposed to do. And she, at the time, didn't really, she didn't get it. She's like, well, what does that mean? Are you going to quit music? And he just said, no, I think I'm just. My time is done. And so hedge, she said, now this. Who really knows? I don't know how trustworthy she is. I know she had drug problems in the past, and there's a lot going on with her. I. But, you know, if that's true, if that's truly what happened, she said that, you know, had she known then that he was talking about feeling like he was, his time on earth was done, she would have, you know, delved deeper into it with him. [00:06:55] Speaker C: This taika you mentioned, what's the rest of their name? [00:07:00] Speaker E: Tyka Nelson. T y k a. Taika Nelson. That's his only full blooded sibling. Now. [00:07:07] Speaker C: You're good, Ash. I was looking up Rita aura, who is astonishing, astonishingly gorgeous, by the way. [00:07:13] Speaker E: Is she? Mm hmm. [00:07:15] Speaker C: She's married to a guy named Taika. But it's Taika David Cohen. [00:07:20] Speaker E: Oh, no. Taika Nelson. Oh, she's married to Taika Waititi. [00:07:29] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:07:29] Speaker E: His real name is Taka David Cohen. Yeah. [00:07:33] Speaker C: She was born in Yugoslavia. [00:07:36] Speaker E: Yeah. She's a beautiful woman. [00:07:40] Speaker C: But I know the name because of, not that I've seen it, but because of 50 shades. [00:07:47] Speaker E: Mm hmm. Farida ora. Yeah. What's that got to do with 50 shades? [00:07:53] Speaker C: She was in it. [00:07:54] Speaker E: She was in 50 shades? [00:07:56] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:07:57] Speaker E: Really? [00:07:58] Speaker C: Uh huh. [00:07:58] Speaker E: She's got, um, what was like a major role or just. [00:08:02] Speaker C: Oh, she was also in fast six. [00:08:06] Speaker E: And you didn't know that? [00:08:07] Speaker C: Uh, no, it was a very small role. [00:08:09] Speaker E: Okay. She just started a race. Okay. What is you about to say, Timothy? [00:08:17] Speaker A: I don't know, man. [00:08:19] Speaker C: She's not a lot. She's on X Factor as a judge. Mary's next top model. [00:08:26] Speaker E: But what has she done musically? Anything that you would know? She has three albums. [00:08:35] Speaker C: One just came out last year. [00:08:37] Speaker E: Hmm. [00:08:40] Speaker C: Give me a second. [00:08:48] Speaker E: I'm looking at her singlesenheid and by the name. I wouldn't know any of these. [00:08:58] Speaker C: Yeah, I don't know that I know any of her music stuff. [00:09:04] Speaker E: But it's funny because I know her name, and I think it's because of music. Hmm. Anyway, I just. The way it goes from the, you know, into the bass driven, you know. It's really a cool song. I love it. So. Mister Timmy T. [00:09:38] Speaker A: Oh, hello. I didn't know I was there, so it's weird, cuz the first time I heard it, I didn't really care much for the music. [00:09:58] Speaker E: When it first starts up, like arabian. [00:10:01] Speaker A: Stuff, anything, I didn't care for that. But I don't know. It sounds good going into. Mmm. Anyway. Okay, so. [00:10:20] Speaker E: Yeah, anyway, but, you know, then you. [00:10:23] Speaker A: Then, you know, I didn't care for it. But then enters Prince. Okay. And the funky way, you know, he sings it. The music was played funky, you know. [00:10:34] Speaker E: The bass, you know, very funky. [00:10:37] Speaker A: It's all good, you know. [00:10:44] Speaker E: Do you like it now? [00:10:46] Speaker A: I don't know what I'm writing here, but, yeah, I died. I like that song a lot. I mean, I've always liked it. It's just the beginning, you know? And I guess something about the ending. I don't know. [00:10:58] Speaker E: And you don't even know. [00:11:00] Speaker A: I got a kind of odd music pieces added in the song. Some I could have did without including the ending. That ring a bell for you in the song? I don't know. Well, hello. Come to me. [00:11:24] Speaker E: And you don't remember what you didn't like about the ending? [00:11:27] Speaker A: I don't remember. But it's funky as hell, though. [00:11:31] Speaker E: Yeah. [00:11:31] Speaker A: If you want some good funky right there. [00:11:33] Speaker E: And it ain't about to stop, either. [00:11:35] Speaker A: Nope, it ain't about to stop. I'm assuming it's all I got for that. I guess that's another. [00:11:47] Speaker E: I mean, overall, I think that we both agree it's a good song. [00:11:50] Speaker A: Oh, yeah. [00:11:51] Speaker E: Yeah. And again, like I said, the only. I don't have the Rita aura vocal version. [00:11:59] Speaker A: Man, I wonder what that would be like. [00:12:01] Speaker E: I don't know, because. So I heard her sing it. Like I said, I heard her sing it live, and. But it was to the exact same music. Prince was playing his version of it. She. She was just doing the singing. So I don't know if, musically, if hers is any different or if all they did was change the vocals. You know what I mean? [00:12:22] Speaker A: They did that with other times, you know, just change the vocals. [00:12:27] Speaker E: Right. So, I don't know. I don't know how different her version would be or if it's just her vocals over the same music, so. But, yeah, good song. One of the few good ones off the hit and run albums. [00:12:43] Speaker C: Well, hopefully we have another good experience with snack time. [00:12:47] Speaker E: Ooh, snack time. Snack time. Brought to you by our friends and partners, Gastos. Reese's plant based oat chocolate confection, and peanut butter. So now we're doing plant based Reese's. The Hershey's didn't work out well the last time we tried a plant based thing. So let's see. [00:15:09] Speaker C: I don't want to use cow milk. [00:15:11] Speaker A: I thought it was okay. Just. It wasn't. There's no chocolatey taste. It wasn't sweet. [00:15:16] Speaker E: They didn't even put these in, like, a wrapper. [00:15:18] Speaker A: Are you kidding me? [00:15:19] Speaker E: No, they're just. [00:15:26] Speaker C: Oh, no. [00:15:31] Speaker A: It doesn't smell like chocolate. Well, it's got the v for vegan. [00:15:41] Speaker E: It is kind of old. [00:15:43] Speaker A: Good lord, take a look at that. That is like a rock looking. Look at it like if you were to bust open a rock. [00:15:54] Speaker E: Tastes fine. [00:15:55] Speaker A: That's. It tastes better than the Hershey's. [00:15:58] Speaker E: Yeah, better than the Hershey's. But it also tastes more like a Reese's. But it tastes like a Reese's with Hershey's chocolate. There's a difference between Reese's chocolate and Hershey's chocolate. That tastes more like Hershey's chocolate, but it tastes good. I would eat it. I would. I mean, the Hershey's was not as. As good. I wouldn't pay more just to not. [00:16:24] Speaker C: Have milk in it. [00:16:25] Speaker E: Yeah, I still prefer the regular version of that. [00:16:34] Speaker A: Yeah, it's okay. [00:16:36] Speaker E: Do you like Reese's? Yeah. All right, so, yeah, that was much better than the plant based Hershey's. [00:16:48] Speaker C: Quick and easy on that one. [00:16:49] Speaker E: Tastes like a Reese's. Tastes like a Reese's. So.
