[00:00:00] Speaker A: It is now disclaimer time. [00:00:02] Speaker B: We are here to share Prince's works with the utmost authenticity, clarity and precision. This means there may be situations where the material being discussed may be sensitive or offensive to some. However we have chosen to discuss his work as it was initially produced. We will not alter any of his original work to suit anyone's comfort, including our own. This podcast is to celebrate Prince and his works. [00:00:29] Speaker C: Thank you for your support and understanding. Now on to the show. Hello. Welcome to Alphabet Suite podcast for the Prince songbook. There are hundreds of songs to choose from. You have chosen for all the midnights in the world. [00:00:55] Speaker B: I think that means we're ready. [00:00:57] Speaker A: It does. [00:00:58] Speaker B: So that means it's time. What is it time for? It is time for another episode of the Alphabet Suite podcast. [00:01:10] Speaker C: Tell me how. Tell you how you don't know who I am. If you're new to the show right now, that's okay. Tell me how the Alphabet Suite Playlist YouTube channel has more subscribers than the Alphabet Suite Podcast YouTube channel. [00:01:31] Speaker B: I wonder if we should maybe run an ad on the Alphabet Suite playlist. [00:01:36] Speaker A: I wanted to take his one thing that screams at us, that little ad and put it on there. [00:01:44] Speaker B: The one thing that screams at us. Yeah, we ought to put something on there though. That's what we're going to figure that out. Cuz that is. [00:01:57] Speaker C: Hey, you know that sound then you must like Prince. [00:02:00] Speaker B: That one really though? [00:02:02] Speaker C: Like a lot. [00:02:07] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah, we need to put that on there. [00:02:10] Speaker A: I always liked that. I thought that was really cool when he did that. [00:02:13] Speaker B: Okay, all right, we need to do that. Let's put that on there. So anyway, it is time for an Alphabet Sweet podcast and it's gonna be hosted by myself, Pat. [00:02:32] Speaker A: In Me. [00:02:34] Speaker B: Me myself and I. Am I doing this solo? [00:02:37] Speaker A: You just threw me off with that. [00:02:39] Speaker B: Okay. [00:02:40] Speaker A: Usually you do like the co host. [00:02:41] Speaker B: Ending and now you know that. [00:02:43] Speaker C: I'm producer Aaron. [00:02:49] Speaker B: That's mean. [00:02:49] Speaker A: We're doing sound effect things now that. [00:02:52] Speaker B: We'Re gonna break into some metal or something. [00:02:54] Speaker A: Yeah, right. And today. [00:02:59] Speaker B: Oh yeah. We are going to talk about a print song. [00:03:02] Speaker A: Yes. But first I would like to announce that we have. [00:03:08] Speaker B: We have. [00:03:09] Speaker A: Yes. We haven't. Excellent. Go ahead. [00:03:15] Speaker C: Excellent. [00:03:18] Speaker A: We have an excellent show for you. [00:03:20] Speaker B: We do have an excellent show for you. All of our shows are excellent. [00:03:24] Speaker A: Yes, they are. [00:03:26] Speaker B: No matter how stupid they get. [00:03:28] Speaker A: Because they are butt licking good. [00:03:30] Speaker B: They are butt looking good. [00:03:31] Speaker A: We have a special guest today. Mariah Carey is here. Yeah. Mariah. Hey. Thank you, thank you. [00:03:42] Speaker B: Thank you very much. [00:03:44] Speaker C: That was a few Episodes ago. [00:03:45] Speaker A: Yeah. Okay. Anyway. [00:03:49] Speaker B: Okay. Are you done? [00:03:52] Speaker A: Yeah. All right. Anywho. [00:03:55] Speaker B: So I know Mariah's happy to be with us. I mean. [00:03:59] Speaker A: Oh, there we go again. Hey. Okay, sorry. Let me flip around. [00:04:04] Speaker B: Did you do that? [00:04:05] Speaker A: Yeah, it was an accident. [00:04:07] Speaker B: Yeah. Okay. [00:04:07] Speaker A: Yeah. Yeah, Mariah's busy on her phone right now. [00:04:10] Speaker B: Yeah, she's talking to Nick. [00:04:11] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:04:12] Speaker B: Cannon. [00:04:12] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:04:13] Speaker B: Wondering if they're asking for the child support. [00:04:15] Speaker A: Yeah. And wondering if she's Drink. Should drink more liquor in the hospital. [00:04:20] Speaker B: What? [00:04:21] Speaker A: After her baby was born, they had. I think it was champagne in the hospital. They were drinking it and. Yeah. [00:04:28] Speaker B: Okay. I don't know. Kids will make you want to drink. [00:04:31] Speaker A: Well, yeah, that's true. I guess if you're Mariah, though, you can do whatever you want to do because she's glitter. [00:04:36] Speaker C: She also just kind of sounds like Hollywood. [00:04:40] Speaker A: Yeah. She's so fake looking. Okay, I do not like Mariah Carey. [00:04:47] Speaker B: Okay. [00:04:48] Speaker A: I like a lot of her songs. I don't like her. [00:04:50] Speaker B: I like her as a person. Okay. [00:04:51] Speaker A: It's like Michael, you know? I like a lot of Michael's songs, but, dude, you're a weirdo. Anyway. [00:04:58] Speaker B: Oh, Prince kind of falls in that category. [00:05:00] Speaker A: No, he didn't have little boys laying in his bed at night and sleeping with him. [00:05:03] Speaker B: That we're aware of. But, I mean, the thing is, he treated people poorly. [00:05:07] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:05:08] Speaker B: Anyway, so we are going to be talking about all the midnights in the world. That's a lot to talk about because there's a lot of midnights. You get 24 of them every day. You know why? You give me that look. All right. [00:05:30] Speaker A: Okay. Anyway. [00:05:31] Speaker C: Or if you think about it, it is always midnight somewhere. [00:05:34] Speaker B: It is. [00:05:35] Speaker A: It is. Yeah. [00:05:36] Speaker B: So it's only one midnight that just never ends. This is really messing with your mind. Stop it. You can blame producer Aaron for that one. Oh, hey, man. [00:05:50] Speaker C: It's the way the universe works. Just gotta love it for what it is. Don't think too hard. Just be. [00:05:57] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:05:59] Speaker B: So anyway. [00:06:01] Speaker A: Yeah. What's your take on the song? [00:06:04] Speaker B: It's. I. I was. So this came off of his Planet Earth album. [00:06:09] Speaker A: It did. [00:06:10] Speaker C: That makes sense. [00:06:11] Speaker B: Yeah. And that was one of the albums that really took me a little bit to get into. You know, I had to really kind of listen to that one. What the. Are you cold? You just. [00:06:25] Speaker A: Not kidding. My nuts just vibrated. I don't know, it just. It was really weird. [00:06:30] Speaker B: What is under this table? [00:06:32] Speaker A: I had. My phone's right there. [00:06:34] Speaker B: So you had a phantom vibration. There you go. [00:06:39] Speaker C: That's for Our Triple X Patreon. [00:06:43] Speaker A: There we go. [00:06:44] Speaker B: I wonder. I wonder what he's got in his underwear. Who's got the controller for it? [00:06:49] Speaker A: Who says I cut on underwear? [00:06:52] Speaker C: The subscriber on Patreon's got the controller. [00:06:56] Speaker B: What? [00:06:57] Speaker A: You know, speaking of no underwear or no underwear. Just real quick, we were at my mom's one day. Everybody was gathered. My nephew Will call him M. Man. He was walking from the doorway. I. I sit on the floor by the front door all the time. That's just my spot, right? [00:07:17] Speaker B: The floor? [00:07:18] Speaker A: Yeah, on the floor. So he walks, you know, from the door to go in. I said, I gotta. [00:07:25] Speaker B: You didn't. [00:07:26] Speaker A: I pantsed his ass. Didn't know he didn't wear underwear. So his thing is just jingling. I see butt cheeks. I'm like, oh my God. He's like, hey, everybody. Almost everybody got a show. [00:07:41] Speaker C: Would have funnier. Fizz Wang popped out, slapped you in the face. [00:07:45] Speaker A: That would be gross. [00:07:46] Speaker B: Be hilarious. [00:07:47] Speaker A: Let's move along. [00:07:49] Speaker B: You're the one who brought that one up, man. [00:07:51] Speaker A: All the midnights in the world. [00:07:52] Speaker B: All the midnights wouldn't stop me from laughing at that. That's for sure. So anyway, as I was trying to say, it took me a little bit to get into this album as a whole. [00:08:05] Speaker A: Holy crap. [00:08:08] Speaker B: What? [00:08:10] Speaker C: He found Wang. [00:08:13] Speaker B: Take him long enough. [00:08:15] Speaker A: Okay, good. [00:08:16] Speaker B: So. But once I did, I started appreciating the music for what it was. And I kind of like this song. [00:08:22] Speaker A: You kind of like this song? [00:08:23] Speaker B: Yeah. It's not. Definitely. I would never pull it off the shelf to listen to it. It's very basic. There's nothing. Oof. Oof. [00:08:35] Speaker C: Basic? [00:08:36] Speaker B: Yeah, it's a. It's a basic tune. There's not a lot to it. [00:08:40] Speaker C: That's a strong word. [00:08:42] Speaker B: Yeah. So it's not what I expect from Prince, you know, he's more. He over produces a lot. There's just a lot going on in his music. [00:08:55] Speaker A: Yes, there is. Sometimes too much. [00:08:57] Speaker B: Well, and what really made me realize just how much is in his music, there's stuff in his music that you don't even really hear. Because I bought the Adobe Atmos version of Diamonds and Pearls. And when you listen to that in Dolby Atmos, you hear stuff because it, like puts the different instruments, like all around you and separates it. [00:09:26] Speaker A: Really? [00:09:26] Speaker B: It's. Yeah, that's different. I thought I played that for you. [00:09:31] Speaker A: No, you never played nothing for me, man. [00:09:34] Speaker B: I was pretty sure because I put it in and had you stand in the middle of my living room and had it? [00:09:38] Speaker A: Not at all. [00:09:38] Speaker B: Oh, we'll do that today. But I heard stuff that I had never heard in his music before. And they didn't add anything to. They just produced it in the Dolby Atmos. So he is called a remix. Well remastered. So hearing him do just basic stuff, you know, it. It's. I don't know. It's lackluster. But still not a bad song. [00:10:07] Speaker A: Excellent. It adds. Wendy. [00:10:10] Speaker B: Wendy. [00:10:11] Speaker A: Yeah. Mandolin. What is that? Is that an instrument? [00:10:17] Speaker B: A mandolin is an instrument. [00:10:21] Speaker A: Put the glass on. I still can't see it. It's too damn small. See that? [00:10:29] Speaker B: The mandolin. Yeah. Wendy. [00:10:31] Speaker A: Under recording personnel. That's weird. It's like he just went back from time and just brought her back in and. Here, help me with this. [00:10:40] Speaker B: He always kept in touch with all his people. [00:10:42] Speaker A: I know, but I get excited when I see stuff like that, you know, because. You know. [00:10:48] Speaker B: Cause you thought he was done with them. [00:10:49] Speaker A: Yeah. The Revolution is. That was the baddest ass right there. MPG and all that. Revolution, dude. Horrible. [00:11:01] Speaker B: Which is. [00:11:01] Speaker A: He just. [00:11:02] Speaker B: It's kind of strange because he was with NPG way longer than he is. [00:11:08] Speaker A: With the Revolution, which should have never took place. [00:11:11] Speaker B: But the NPG also was more a revolving cast of musicians, you know, the revolution was, for the most part, he would add somebody. Didn't really take much away from them. [00:11:21] Speaker C: Which doesn't fit with the names. [00:11:25] Speaker B: What do you mean? [00:11:27] Speaker C: Revolution? Revolving door. Different people. [00:11:30] Speaker B: Well, but the Revolution. Yeah. He didn't really revolve. [00:11:34] Speaker A: He didn't mess with it. [00:11:36] Speaker B: He pretty much. He would add people, but he never. Like the revolution that you saw in Purple Rain. Kind of stuck around for, like, just as long as they were to get. When he disbanded, he disbanded everyone. He would bring extra people in, but he didn't get rid of that core group. [00:11:51] Speaker A: Right. [00:11:52] Speaker B: With the New Power Generation. He did a couple albums with like, the first couple, and then he would change people as he went and. I don't know. What did you think of the song? Read your notes to me, please. [00:12:08] Speaker A: Well, once again. And it's a song I've never heard before. [00:12:13] Speaker B: Well, this album did come along in that time of your life that you had. You were more. Urge, overkill and, you know, O Negative or. Oh, whatever. [00:12:29] Speaker A: Okay. [00:12:30] Speaker B: You know. [00:12:30] Speaker A: All right. Anywho. [00:12:34] Speaker B: O Negative. Right? [00:12:36] Speaker A: Typo. Negative. [00:12:37] Speaker B: Typo. [00:12:38] Speaker C: Negative. [00:12:38] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:12:38] Speaker C: Typo is great. [00:12:40] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:12:41] Speaker B: Yeah. You really went down that. I did that Producer, Aaron Road. [00:12:45] Speaker A: Yeah, I did. [00:12:47] Speaker B: So you were not listening to much Prince. [00:12:49] Speaker A: No. So I thought it was really good to hear just a Generic, like singing from him. I love, I love him singing, like, just basic. I like that. [00:13:04] Speaker B: Do you? [00:13:04] Speaker A: Yeah, I do. I really do. I think it's a great song. You know, the, the song's great. The music's great. You know, it's, it's. I love it. [00:13:15] Speaker B: Really? [00:13:15] Speaker A: I just like. Yeah, I like the basic. Just generic. Yeah. [00:13:20] Speaker B: Because it is very basic. [00:13:21] Speaker A: It is, it's, it's. I like that. Probably better than the over, over produced stuff. Yeah. [00:13:29] Speaker B: Are you sure, though? [00:13:30] Speaker A: Sometimes it just drives me crazy because it's just way too much, you know? [00:13:33] Speaker B: That explains something, though. That explains why you like Free some more. You think Free is the best song on 1999. [00:13:40] Speaker A: Correct. [00:13:41] Speaker B: You know, because that is just a very. Him and a piano, you know, and. [00:13:45] Speaker A: Got it. [00:13:46] Speaker B: It's a very basic song. Yeah. [00:13:48] Speaker A: I wish you heaven. That's my favorite from. [00:13:51] Speaker B: Yeah, that's, that's. He also likes Ghost. Who likes Ghost? [00:13:58] Speaker C: Tell me. [00:13:58] Speaker A: Do it. [00:13:59] Speaker C: He doesn't know that. [00:14:00] Speaker B: He does, but he's heard it. He's like, man, that sounds great. Oh, but Ghost ain't really basic. No, not at all. And I think he's not saying he doesn't like the overproduced stuff. I think he's just saying he, he likes the basic too. [00:14:14] Speaker A: Right? I, I, it's just really good to hear. I, I love it. [00:14:19] Speaker B: And so you like this song, huh? [00:14:21] Speaker A: I love that song. That's a really good song. [00:14:24] Speaker B: And it's funny because this came out in 2007 and this is the first time you're hearing it. Do you feel like it's dated? Do you feel like it feels like it's from 2007? [00:14:36] Speaker A: No. As if it's from right now. [00:14:38] Speaker B: Does it? [00:14:39] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:14:39] Speaker B: Well, I want to say that because. Have you heard the music that's out now? [00:14:42] Speaker A: No, because I don't listen to it. [00:14:43] Speaker B: Yeah. So it would not fit. [00:14:44] Speaker A: So to me, it's just new Ghosts. [00:14:47] Speaker C: They come out now. [00:14:48] Speaker B: Well, but they're not like the radio, the top 40 pop stuff that's out now. [00:14:53] Speaker C: Oh, they've been on top tens. They've had number ones. [00:14:57] Speaker B: And Billboard. [00:14:58] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:14:59] Speaker B: In the pop. The top 10. Well, not pop, but yeah. So Billboard. So just saying. I agree. I, I like Ghost. I'm glad you introduced me to them. [00:15:14] Speaker C: Everybody should try Ghost. [00:15:16] Speaker B: I really, I was actually. [00:15:18] Speaker C: No, I don't want them to be too famous because in their concert tickets are going to get way too expensive. [00:15:23] Speaker B: Yeah, that tends to happen. Well, if you like basic stuff, you should listen to planet Earth. I mean, the whole cd, the whole album is very. Maybe that's the point of it. [00:15:34] Speaker C: Planet Earth, it's our foundation. [00:15:37] Speaker B: It could be. I know he was definitely trying to make a statement with the album. [00:15:40] Speaker C: You know what I'm trying to make. [00:15:42] Speaker B: You're trying to make money. That's what we're trying to make. [00:15:44] Speaker C: Well, I mean, there's that too, but I'm trying to fill my belly a little bit. [00:15:47] Speaker B: Trying to make some less room in your tummy tum. [00:15:50] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:15:51] Speaker B: You know who can help with that? [00:15:52] Speaker C: No, who can help me? [00:15:53] Speaker B: Kastos can. [00:15:54] Speaker C: Oh, snap. Yeah. [00:15:56] Speaker B: Kastos, who we are affiliated with, they are podcast distribution platform. And why did we choose Kastos? [00:16:05] Speaker A: Because they rock. [00:16:06] Speaker B: They do rock. They give us automated transcriptions, they put us on platforms all around the world that we never even heard of. And we don't have to do anything. They do it all for us. And they do it on a fixed monthly pricing. [00:16:22] Speaker A: You know what I like about that? [00:16:23] Speaker B: What's that? [00:16:24] Speaker A: Not the fixed pricing, but the one. Well, I like that too. But the one before, we don't have to do anything because I'm lazy. [00:16:29] Speaker B: Yeah. Oh, I know. So that's why our sister station, sister channel takes a little bit, but yeah, they. [00:16:36] Speaker A: They do it all. Man, let me play my balls. What are you doing, man? Rotate it, rotate it. Oh, there we go. [00:16:45] Speaker B: Oh, look, now we can hear better. You couldn't hear well, it was muffled there. Point. [00:16:50] Speaker A: Like that? [00:16:50] Speaker B: Yeah, that's way better. [00:16:51] Speaker A: You want me to sniff it too? Go ahead. [00:16:53] Speaker B: That's what I do. [00:16:54] Speaker A: Yeah, finish, please. [00:16:56] Speaker B: Oh, finish. Oh, I was just gonna say you can make money with Castos, which is. I mean, we do this for the love of prints. Don't get me wrong, we. We don't make money on this, but it would be nice to. Yes, with Castos you can, because you can have ad insertions, you can get recurring or one time donations. You can get paid private podcasts. I mean, just all sorts of stuff, you know, and you can manage it with one WordPress plugins. You can all of that. Which we don't do. So anyway, if you want to give podcasting a try, they make it very easy to do. Very easy. If we can do it, you can do it. So click on the links below and get a 14 day free trial with Kastos. Well, you don't need your own producer, Aaron, but it's good to have one. [00:17:41] Speaker A: Yes, it is. We could. We'll rent them out to you too. [00:17:43] Speaker B: Yeah. So what do we got today? [00:17:46] Speaker A: Producer Aaron. Oh, Lord, it's me again. [00:17:48] Speaker B: You again? Why? [00:17:50] Speaker A: Okay, I don't want to smash them. [00:17:53] Speaker B: I get that. [00:17:54] Speaker A: So that's why. [00:17:54] Speaker B: But here's. Here's my problem. [00:17:56] Speaker A: Excuse me. [00:17:57] Speaker C: Smashed by falling on the floor. [00:17:58] Speaker A: Yeah, they did. [00:17:59] Speaker B: He. I'm not the one who likes hot stuff, right? But yet I'm the one who gets all the hot stuff handed to me. Why is that? I feel like I'm being, like, tortured. And it's simple, actually. [00:18:16] Speaker C: Bags are easier to throw. Oh. [00:18:18] Speaker B: And I'm not throwing things at you, which is nice. I'm glad you're not throwing things at me, man. [00:18:23] Speaker A: Throw the can at him. I'm just gonna throw it at you. Oh, thanks. [00:18:29] Speaker B: All right. [00:18:29] Speaker C: I'm going through an order to try to elicit certain. [00:18:33] Speaker B: Certain responses. There's a method to his madness. What do we got today? [00:18:42] Speaker A: I think this might. This might be good. [00:18:45] Speaker B: This. [00:18:46] Speaker A: Oh, yeah, this is Doritos. [00:18:47] Speaker B: See, I like most of the Doritos late night sizzling. Oh, for crying out loud. [00:18:53] Speaker A: Cheeseburger. [00:18:54] Speaker B: Oh, okay. [00:18:57] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:19:00] Speaker B: Wow. This Doritos late night sizzling cheeseburger. Yeah, it does. I'm actually kind of looking forward to this one. And what. What is a late night flavor? Late night. Is that the late. So when you gotta run off one, off to a fast food place and grab some burgers. [00:19:27] Speaker A: Smells like McDonald's cheeseburgers to. [00:19:34] Speaker B: It. Does it very much smells like McDonald's. [00:19:39] Speaker A: He said, oh, boy. [00:19:40] Speaker B: Which is okay. I mean, so here's the problem I have with McDonald's. Well, no, their prices are actually coming down if you use the app. [00:19:50] Speaker A: Yeah. Which I do. [00:19:53] Speaker B: Doesn't that smell? [00:19:53] Speaker C: See, that smells like you just gotta make double. [00:19:56] Speaker B: Yeah. So here's my thing with McDonald's. They're not the greatest food in the world. Right. [00:20:03] Speaker A: Mariah is a weirdo. [00:20:04] Speaker B: You got to understand what you're getting when you go to McDonald's. [00:20:07] Speaker A: Correct. [00:20:08] Speaker B: And the thing is, for. For me, once I get McDonald's and I have it, once I, like, start craving it more and more. But then I'll get to a point after, I don't know, a year or two of eating McDonald's, not all the time. It's not like I'm, like, eating McDonald's, but I will start. Then I'm just like, you know what? Okay, I'm done. And then I won't eat McDonald's for, like, years. And then as soon as I eat at one time, and it's usually like, I'm on vacation and we're on the Road. And you gotta stop for something quick. Ah, there's a McDonald's. Let's just hit that. And then all of a sudden, you're like, oh, I want McDonald's. Oh, I'm kind of craving a Big Mac, you know? [00:20:52] Speaker A: Do you really. Do you really, like, make the Big Mac? [00:20:56] Speaker B: Oh, I love a Big Mac. [00:20:57] Speaker A: It's freaking gross. Special sauce. [00:21:03] Speaker B: I like Big Macs. Ain't gonna lie. This tastes like a McDonald's cheeseburger. [00:21:11] Speaker A: Yeah, it does, man. They're right on, dude. [00:21:14] Speaker B: They hit it. [00:21:15] Speaker A: Wow. [00:21:16] Speaker B: That is a McDonald's cheeseburger. [00:21:18] Speaker A: Did you like that there, Mariah? Not at all. [00:21:23] Speaker B: Wow. [00:21:26] Speaker A: Holy moly. [00:21:30] Speaker B: You disagree. How do you disagree? It tastes like a McDonald's cheeseburger. [00:21:35] Speaker C: It doesn't to me. [00:21:37] Speaker B: What does it taste like to you? Because it sure does to me. [00:21:48] Speaker C: American cheese, powder corn. [00:21:55] Speaker B: But you get the ketchup and the mustard. [00:22:00] Speaker C: Mustard on the back end. That's about it. [00:22:06] Speaker B: You don't taste the ketchup? [00:22:08] Speaker C: Nope. [00:22:09] Speaker B: Wow. I think you burned your taste buds with the last. [00:22:14] Speaker A: I just taste McDonald's cheeseburger. [00:22:17] Speaker B: I taste the McDonald's cheeseburger. I'm actually digging it. [00:22:21] Speaker C: I mean, you can enjoy it. That's fine. I'm not saying they're bad. It just doesn't taste like a McDonald's cheeseburger. [00:22:30] Speaker B: And it's okay to be wrong. You're damn right. Wow, that is good. And these. It doesn't say limited time, does it? [00:22:42] Speaker C: No, I don't think these are. [00:22:43] Speaker B: Holy crap, though. I'm looking at the price on the bag. 629. [00:22:48] Speaker A: Huh? [00:22:49] Speaker C: The late nights are more expensive. [00:22:51] Speaker B: Wow. [00:22:54] Speaker C: And it's not even a big bag. [00:22:55] Speaker B: No, that's not a big bag at all. That is ridiculous. [00:23:03] Speaker A: So, yeah. Not sure if there's more to say about this, because there is no cover. There's no. [00:23:11] Speaker B: No. [00:23:11] Speaker C: I'm gonna have a random aside. Oh, a buddy of mine, I. I have Discord open on my PC just because it's on and he shares what he's listening to in Spotify. Oh, it has gone from. He has a certain playlist that he just kind of plays with certain situations and how he's feeling. And he's playing that right now. The first time I looked, it was Hysteria. [00:23:39] Speaker B: Oh, good song, huh? [00:23:42] Speaker C: Then it was something by Leonard Skynyrd. [00:23:45] Speaker B: And not a fan. [00:23:46] Speaker C: Right now, it's Baba O'Reilly. [00:23:51] Speaker B: Bob O'Reilly. [00:23:53] Speaker C: Baba O'Reilly from the WHO. [00:23:55] Speaker A: Oh, what? [00:23:57] Speaker B: Yeah, good song. [00:23:59] Speaker C: He's, you know, he's my age, obviously, you know. [00:24:03] Speaker B: And he listens to the who. [00:24:04] Speaker C: He has this playlist that is like nothing but dad rock for us. Dad rock nowadays is what I listen to. You know, Lincoln Park, Limp Bizkit. [00:24:18] Speaker B: That's a dad rock. Oh, yeah. Your dad didn't listen to much of that. [00:24:22] Speaker C: No, but different generations now my generation is typically dance. [00:24:29] Speaker B: It'd be grandpa rock now for me. Oh, it's called classic classic rock. Who would have thought. Think about that, man. Who would have thought when we were listening to Def Leppard? And I hate when they poison it. [00:24:41] Speaker C: How do you think I feel as well? [00:24:43] Speaker B: Classic rock rock. [00:24:44] Speaker C: I'm not a dad. [00:24:46] Speaker B: That you know of. [00:24:48] Speaker C: No, I know it's kind of easy when you only been with one. [00:24:53] Speaker B: Yeah, that. That helps. [00:24:55] Speaker C: Yeah. And. And my music is dad rock now. There's a whole playlist on Spotify of dad rock and it is all things I listen to. [00:25:07] Speaker B: But does that. You're not classic rock yet. You're dad Rock. [00:25:13] Speaker C: In 20 years I'll be classic rock. [00:25:16] Speaker B: And then we'll be dead. [00:25:21] Speaker C: Don't say that. [00:25:23] Speaker B: Think about that, man, with our music in another 20 years. I mean, this was the last year was the 40th anniversary of Purple Rain. Imagine hitting the 60th anniversary of Purple Rain. [00:25:36] Speaker C: They're still not going to do anything with it. [00:25:38] Speaker B: Nope, they still won't. They'll still be fighting now. We still won't have any more music than what we have now from the. From the idiots running the estate. [00:25:50] Speaker A: These are good. [00:25:51] Speaker B: They are. [00:25:52] Speaker A: I like them. [00:25:52] Speaker C: Hey, enjoy them. [00:25:55] Speaker B: Those are very good. [00:25:56] Speaker C: I gotta decide what I'm gonna put. [00:25:58] Speaker B: You through next, cuz I think. [00:26:02] Speaker C: I think we got time for. [00:26:03] Speaker B: Oh, we got time for a couple more. [00:26:05] Speaker C: Time for at least two more. [00:26:06] Speaker B: Yeah. So anyway. Oh, and remember last episode I was going to tell you something. [00:26:12] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:26:12] Speaker B: We're talking about all the. [00:26:14] Speaker C: Get on your soapbox, papa. [00:26:15] Speaker B: Let's go. This. This ain't the soapbox. [00:26:17] Speaker C: Okay. [00:26:18] Speaker B: I was. We're talking about the. All the different versions that you can listen to, you know what the. [00:26:26] Speaker A: Did you say virgins? [00:26:28] Speaker B: Yeah, I listened to Virginia. They're all from Virginia. [00:26:31] Speaker A: Bring it right back to way back when. [00:26:33] Speaker C: Season one, baby. [00:26:36] Speaker B: So I was. I was on the hunt trying to get, you know, all the different covers and all that. I found this one that does country versions to Prince songs. Wow. Well, and here's the thing. It's. It's kind of like, you know, bacon in a peanut butter shake. You hear it, you're like, not sure. [00:27:07] Speaker C: Bacon and shakes is Just fantastic. [00:27:09] Speaker B: Well, but when you try it, you're like, oh, like Aaron says, it's fantastic. Right. [00:27:14] Speaker C: Salty Sweet. [00:27:15] Speaker B: There was a couple of these country versions that I was like, wow, that's a good take on that song. [00:27:25] Speaker A: Really? [00:27:26] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:27:27] Speaker C: It's like Post Malone doing country. Post Malone, he did do country as a country album. He played at the Grand Ole Opry. [00:27:35] Speaker B: Really? [00:27:35] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:27:36] Speaker B: Wow. [00:27:37] Speaker C: And it's good. [00:27:39] Speaker B: Didn't Beyonce try to do a country album too? [00:27:42] Speaker C: Huh? Guess who wasn't invited to the Grand Ole Opry. [00:27:46] Speaker B: Beyonce. I tell you, one of the most natural, like, progressions from rock to country, from, you know, pop to country, was Darius Rucker. You know, Hootie and the Blowfish. They. To me, they bordered on country. Anyway, so to have him go country, I'm like, yeah, I could see that. [00:28:08] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:28:08] Speaker C: Matarius Rucker is from Hootie and the Blowfish. [00:28:11] Speaker B: Yeah. He's this lead singer from Hootie and. [00:28:12] Speaker A: The Blowfish I like. [00:28:15] Speaker C: I had no idea. [00:28:17] Speaker A: Bret Michaels. [00:28:19] Speaker B: But again, some of his rock, when you listen to Poison's music is countryish anyway. Yeah. You know, until CeCe starts ripping. Well, yeah, that is not country guitar playing. [00:28:33] Speaker A: I'm just saying, I like Brett Michaels singing country. [00:28:36] Speaker B: I think, you know, he's coming to the Hard Rock, right? [00:28:38] Speaker A: Really? [00:28:39] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:28:39] Speaker A: And tickets, probably, what, 300 a piece? [00:28:42] Speaker B: I don't know. I didn't look. [00:28:43] Speaker C: Those are probably for those blades. [00:28:45] Speaker B: Yeah, I didn't look, but he's coming. [00:28:47] Speaker C: I thought I legit. Thought Tim was gonna say Kid Rock. [00:28:51] Speaker B: I like Kid Rock. [00:28:52] Speaker A: I don't like him. [00:28:53] Speaker B: Really? [00:28:53] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:28:54] Speaker B: Yeah, I like Kid Rock. So speaking of Kid Rock, my amazing wife, dad Rock. Now, wouldn't he be Grandpa Rock Classic. [00:29:07] Speaker C: I don't know. Does he have grandkids? [00:29:10] Speaker B: I don't know. [00:29:11] Speaker C: Kid Rock. Let us know in the comments down below. [00:29:14] Speaker B: Well, he may not talk to us after this, because I like Kid Rock. I really do. I like his music. His progression went from, you know, the rock rap to the Southern rock, which made sense with him. And I like it all. I do. [00:29:34] Speaker C: It's like outlaw Southern rock. [00:29:36] Speaker B: Right. And I like that. [00:29:37] Speaker C: Got an attitude. [00:29:38] Speaker B: Yeah. However, my lovely wife was just telling me yesterday that she read this article where he got so ticked off at the audience that he was playing for because they weren't singing his songs back to him because he was trying to get him to sing the songs, and he got so ticked off, he stopped the show and left. Left the stage. So. [00:30:08] Speaker A: Wow. [00:30:09] Speaker B: Now, I'm not gonna sit here and rip on the Guy, maybe he's having a bad day. We don't know what's going on in his life. You know, something bad could have happened. And he was looking to feel that energy to build him up, and he wasn't getting it. Because you talk to most artists and they'll tell you they get that energy fed back to them, the. Which helps them feed the energy out to the people, and it's a symbiotic thing. And when you're at a show, you feel it. You feel the energy and you feel the rock, and you feel everything going on. So if it wasn't being fed back to him, maybe he's got something going on. So I'm not going to sit here and say, oh, Kid Rock was being a little wine baby brat, and, you know, people didn't do what he wanted, so he left. That's not why I'm telling this story. I'm just telling the story because producer answer, producer answer, producer Aaron mentioned Kid Rock, so I just brought that to my mind. So, yeah, he apparently. [00:31:00] Speaker A: I can see him doing that. [00:31:01] Speaker B: Apparently got mad and left the stage. I can see him doing that end of the show. Yeah, Yeah. I don't know him. I've never seen him, but I used to want to see him back in the day when he was really. Yeah. Because I've seen, like, clips of him perform live, and he does bring an energy, you know, so. [00:31:20] Speaker A: Well, I mean, I can understand that. You, you know, you're. You're known for bringing the energy, and the crowd is just like, you know, I'd be pissed, too. Yeah, Yeah. I probably. Yeah. Okay. I mean, not cool to just leave, though. [00:31:33] Speaker B: These people paid money to see you. They didn't pay money to sing your songs. [00:31:36] Speaker A: Right. But still. [00:31:38] Speaker B: But there should be this symbiotic energy. [00:31:40] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:31:41] Speaker B: So I don't know. That's just what she read. And who knows? It's the Internet. It's. Who knows Granddad, by the way, is he. Yeah, see? So he's Grandpa Rock. [00:31:53] Speaker C: However, I'm not seeing anything about him storming off because they aren't singing. [00:31:59] Speaker B: But like I said it. Who knows? I don't know where she read the article. [00:32:02] Speaker C: The only thing I'm seeing is he was doing a special show in Nashville. Hold on. There's a special guest at Bon Jovi keyboardist David Bryant's birthday bash in Nashville. This was on February 8th. [00:32:21] Speaker A: And. [00:32:27] Speaker C: There'S an issue with them clapping along with the music. [00:32:31] Speaker B: Okay. I just looked. Yeah, yeah. According to Yahoo, he was slammed for exiting stage due To Nashville audiences, refusal to clap. [00:32:46] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:32:47] Speaker B: So that's probably the article. She doesn't read the whole thing. [00:32:52] Speaker C: Well, what it probably was, my guess would be a Facebook article, which is nothing but clickbait titles. [00:33:02] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:33:02] Speaker C: And even, even all of these, there is not a, in my opinion, a legitimate news source talking about this at all. They're all hit piece people. [00:33:11] Speaker B: Well, it's hard to find a legitimate news source, period, anymore. [00:33:14] Speaker C: There's plenty out there. You just gotta look. [00:33:19] Speaker B: So anyway, like I said, I'm not trying to stir the pot or try to get people going. I. It just. We got on the Kid Rock subject and these are the things that were in my mind. [00:33:29] Speaker C: Yeah, it's all right. [00:33:31] Speaker B: So. So I'm not trying to turn anyone against Kid Rock. Not because I like Kid Rock. Not trying to say he is a wine baby, because, you know, I'm just telling you what was said. [00:33:44] Speaker A: So anyway, well, thank you for that. [00:33:47] Speaker B: Yeah, I just thought I'd share. Excuse you. Thanks. [00:33:53] Speaker A: Oh, he cussed, he cursed and everything else as he was leaving. [00:33:57] Speaker B: Well, he cusses and curses in his. [00:33:59] Speaker A: Music, so he does. I was just. [00:34:01] Speaker B: What difference does it make? [00:34:02] Speaker A: I was just saying he stormed off the stage. Profanity laced, public meltdown. That's what it says on the HuffPost. [00:34:11] Speaker B: Yep. That's just as reliable as I would call it a meltdown. But anyway, so like I said, he may have been having a bad day and you want to feed that energy back to the performers. You know, it's. It's a symbiotic relationship. [00:34:25] Speaker A: So he said, f you all. I like it. Yeah. All right. [00:34:33] Speaker B: So anyway, I think we've destroyed our reputations enough with this one, so. [00:34:39] Speaker C: So if you like what we did to ourselves, head on over to patreon.com alphabetsuite podcast. [00:34:43] Speaker B: You can see more us destroying ourselves. [00:35:38] Speaker B: All right. So until next time, peace. My name is Kid. [00:35:43] Speaker C: Bye.
