[00:00:00] Speaker A: It is now disclaimer time. [00:00:02] Speaker B: We are here to share Prince's works with the utmost authenticity, clarity and precision. This means there may be situations where the material being discussed may be sensitive or offensive to some. However, we have chosen to discuss his work as it was initially produced. We will not alter any of his original work to suit anyone's comfort, including our own. This podcast is to celebrate Prince and his works. Thank you for your support and understanding. Now on to the show. [00:00:36] Speaker A: Hello. Welcome to Alphabet Suite podcast for the Prince Songbook. There are hundreds of songs to choose from. You have chosen. [00:00:49] Speaker B: Forgot about the thing. Don't ever forget about the thing. I'm sorry, man. [00:00:54] Speaker A: So as I still eat these chips. Welcome back to another episode of Elf Sweet podcast. [00:01:09] Speaker B: Hey, that's pretty cool looking. [00:01:10] Speaker A: I am your host, Timothy. [00:01:13] Speaker B: I am Boggled Pat. [00:01:18] Speaker A: Boggled Fat. [00:01:19] Speaker B: I got freaking laser beams. Lasers produce the. Aaron, Rock on. [00:01:26] Speaker A: Yeah. Rock on. There we go. [00:01:27] Speaker B: Yeah. Yeah. [00:01:28] Speaker A: Rock on. [00:01:28] Speaker B: Right? [00:01:29] Speaker A: Yeah. So today, I'm not sure if you knew this. All Kings had Horses. [00:01:40] Speaker B: Did they? [00:01:41] Speaker A: Yeah, all of them. All the kings had horses. [00:01:45] Speaker B: Are you sure? [00:01:46] Speaker A: Pretty sure. They weren't from New York neither? [00:01:51] Speaker B: No. Cuz New York has Queens. That was clever. [00:02:00] Speaker A: I was. I was thinking of a different thing. I was thinking like California. [00:02:06] Speaker B: You want to know? Totally different direction. [00:02:08] Speaker A: I did. I forgot about Queens. Up there in New York. Are they by the Bronx? Let me change the subject. Anywho. So that's what we're talking about today. [00:02:19] Speaker B: Talking about Queens. [00:02:20] Speaker A: No, we're not. [00:02:22] Speaker B: What are we talking about? [00:02:23] Speaker A: All the Kings. Horses. [00:02:29] Speaker B: You got too many chips. Covering up your notes. I do. So what are we going to talk about with all the King's Horses? [00:02:36] Speaker A: Well, it was an unreleased cover version of a track by Aretha Franklin, which. [00:02:44] Speaker B: I know you are not a fan of. [00:02:46] Speaker A: I am not a fan of, which is so weird. [00:02:48] Speaker B: I like Soul Sisters. Huh? He does. Well, he likes Soul sisters, but apparently he does not like Aretha's soul voice. [00:02:55] Speaker A: No, you know, I like Patti LaBelle. You know, I like Gladys Knight. I don't like Aretha Franklin. I just. I never. [00:03:08] Speaker B: Probably the most famous of the three that existed. I mean, she's like the Queen of Soul. [00:03:16] Speaker A: That's fine. Was she on the Horses with the King? [00:03:18] Speaker B: I'm sure she was, which is why she's the queen. [00:03:22] Speaker A: Okay. Yeah. So you know what, though? [00:03:28] Speaker B: I. I don't. Educate me. [00:03:31] Speaker A: I listened to the song because I've never listened to it before. I'm really kind of digging that song. [00:03:37] Speaker B: Her version. Because we do not Have Prince's version? [00:03:40] Speaker A: This is correct. Because we're talking about Aretha Franklin. [00:03:43] Speaker B: Okay. [00:03:44] Speaker A: So, yeah. [00:03:45] Speaker B: And you did like the song? [00:03:47] Speaker A: I was digging it. [00:03:48] Speaker B: Did you like her voice in the song? [00:03:52] Speaker A: I could do without the. What is, is that the bridge part? I don't know. Course I don't know what it is, but I could do without that. But the rest of it was really, really good. And yeah, her v. Pretty good there. [00:04:02] Speaker B: But not enough to convince you to, like. [00:04:04] Speaker A: Not at all. [00:04:04] Speaker B: No, no. This is a one off for you. [00:04:07] Speaker A: Like a one hit wonder. [00:04:09] Speaker B: Is that what it was? [00:04:10] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:04:11] Speaker B: And this was. No, I don't even think she ever released this, did she? [00:04:15] Speaker A: I don't know. [00:04:16] Speaker B: Yeah, I don't know. But it's old. It was from the 70s, right? [00:04:20] Speaker A: 72. [00:04:21] Speaker B: 72, yeah. Off her Young, Gifted and Black album. [00:04:26] Speaker A: What a great year. [00:04:28] Speaker B: Was it a great year? [00:04:30] Speaker A: It was. Watch it, mister. You know, Prince had two versions. [00:04:39] Speaker B: Okay. [00:04:41] Speaker A: But neither one were released, so we have neither. [00:04:44] Speaker B: Allegedly. He had two versions. [00:04:46] Speaker A: Yeah. I could not imagine he could make it any better. I'm just, I mean, he's Prince. Yeah, he's great. But, you know, she was the queen, so. [00:04:54] Speaker B: She was the queen. [00:04:56] Speaker A: You think she was from Queens? Because a lot of them people, you know, the, the big music people, they come from New York too, you know. [00:05:06] Speaker B: I don't know where she was from, but I bet that's, it's worth a Google, you know. But I, you know, I've liked Aretha Franklin stuff. I, I'm not going to sit here and say, oh, I'm a. An Aretha fan, per se. She's from Memphis. [00:05:26] Speaker A: Oh, really? Ah, Seoul. Down south. [00:05:31] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:05:31] Speaker A: Yeah, okay, I can see that. [00:05:34] Speaker B: And she was buried in Detroit for some reason. Did she, like, move up there in later years or something? I don't know. Yeah, I, I'm, I am definitely not against riri at all. You know, I, I like her stuff. I'm not gonna. Probably. Riri. That's what they called her. Riri. [00:06:02] Speaker A: That's weird. [00:06:03] Speaker B: Well, Aretha, riri. [00:06:06] Speaker A: You know, I knew this girl named Aretha. [00:06:09] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:06:09] Speaker A: I may have talked about her. [00:06:12] Speaker B: She lived in Detroit, so she moved up to Detroit. Yeah. So you knew this girl named Maritha? [00:06:23] Speaker A: I did. [00:06:23] Speaker B: Was her last name Franklin? [00:06:27] Speaker A: No. [00:06:28] Speaker B: Bless you. [00:06:28] Speaker A: I don't want to say, oh, bless you again, sorry. But no, it wasn't Franklin. [00:06:32] Speaker B: No. [00:06:33] Speaker A: No. [00:06:36] Speaker B: And that's just where the story ends. [00:06:38] Speaker A: Is you knew her well. No, because, you know. [00:06:42] Speaker B: Because. No, I don't. [00:06:43] Speaker A: I was trying to get my Freak on with her. She was a staff member. [00:06:47] Speaker B: A staff member of. I see. Oh, man. [00:06:55] Speaker A: So it wasn't happening cuz she was scared. [00:06:58] Speaker B: Uhhuh. [00:06:59] Speaker A: Cameras. Oh, there's a camera in the bathroom. That's. [00:07:02] Speaker B: I gotcha. [00:07:03] Speaker A: So she, you know, was done with all that point and I'm at home, so I'm calling her on the phone. And she came all the way to. [00:07:12] Speaker B: Rockford from way down south. [00:07:15] Speaker A: Rockford, Indiana? No, she came from Elgin. Elgin, California. To see me. Yeah, we was gonna, you know. [00:07:30] Speaker B: Huh. But you didn't. [00:07:32] Speaker A: I seen her boobs. Yeah, I had to go pick this other chick up. That time came and gone, bro. I mean, we had our moment. She blew it. She's still sexy, though. Anyway, that's not about Aretha Franklin. [00:07:50] Speaker B: Some of the stories you come up with, man. [00:07:57] Speaker A: Bro, I live the stupid crazy. Did you odd weird, you know, life? [00:08:03] Speaker B: No, you did some dumb things outside. I'll be that guy. All I heard from that story was boobs. Boobs. [00:08:10] Speaker A: Boobs are good. [00:08:11] Speaker B: Hey, I like boobs. I will never complain about seeing some boobs. Some stuff about Aretha. Yeah, she had big boobs. She was a big gal. She was a big gal. [00:08:23] Speaker A: Check gonorrhea too. [00:08:27] Speaker B: What? [00:08:30] Speaker A: Check on a real dude, it was back in the 70s, man. Come on, this is big. Back then she had that. [00:08:38] Speaker B: I'm sure you know this firsthand, right? [00:08:40] Speaker A: I do. [00:08:41] Speaker B: Got it from you. [00:08:43] Speaker A: No, because I was just an itty bitty baby. No, Mickey Thompson told me. [00:08:50] Speaker B: There's a Mickey Thompson? [00:08:51] Speaker A: This one girl I know. [00:08:53] Speaker B: Oh, shut up, man. [00:08:55] Speaker A: Look, my nephew. Not to get off subject, but. [00:08:59] Speaker B: But we're gonna get off sub. [00:09:00] Speaker A: Yeah, we are. So my nephew. [00:09:03] Speaker B: Which one? [00:09:04] Speaker A: We'll call B, man. Okay. Did I just spit? [00:09:10] Speaker B: He probably did. [00:09:11] Speaker A: Any. Yep, there it is. Anywho, he was at my house one day. [00:09:17] Speaker B: I'll have him to this show. I don't know. [00:09:21] Speaker A: He was at my house one day. You know, everybody was in. My sister, you know, Jenna. Oh, I gave a name. Damn. [00:09:29] Speaker B: Tell the story, please. [00:09:30] Speaker A: Yeah, I'm getting there. You know, I'm long winded. That's what Michelle tells me. Yeah, yeah, you say the same thing. That's okay. [00:09:37] Speaker B: That's all right. [00:09:38] Speaker A: I'm still going. So he's like complaining about his elbow. You know, he had like something on it or whatever. Okay, so you know, he's not all there. I love him. But I said, yeah, you got. Probably got gonorrhea of the elbow. And he's like, yeah. He said that's probably what I got gonorrhea of the elbow, you know? And he's like, I don't know how I got it. That's the story. [00:10:08] Speaker B: Okay. [00:10:08] Speaker A: That took 10 minutes. Oh, see, I got that from gonorrhea with Aretha. Yeah. Our producer's like, what the fudge? [00:10:22] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:10:23] Speaker A: Anyway, so I'm looking at the prints here, and it's under additional information. It says unreleased songs, but it said it was plain played for the VIP attendees. Celebration event 2023. Do you see that. [00:10:46] Speaker B: Under other information. [00:10:48] Speaker A: Additional all the way at the bottom? [00:10:52] Speaker B: I'm looking. [00:10:53] Speaker A: Okay. Them chips made me thirsty. [00:11:05] Speaker B: So we know it's out there then. [00:11:06] Speaker A: Yes. [00:11:10] Speaker B: Because if they played it at one of his celebrations. You know what? I know what's out there. What's out there? Snack time. It is out there. I think Tim just finished snack time from the last episode I did. So he's been chomping on them chips for a week. [00:11:25] Speaker A: Give me this paper. [00:11:26] Speaker B: You want to. [00:11:27] Speaker A: Oh, you want to just give me this paper. I'm going to try these hard words again. [00:11:30] Speaker B: Okay. Because snack time is because we're sponsored. Not sponsored. I would love to be sponsored, but we have a partnership with Castos. And what can Castos provide for others like us who want to podcast? [00:11:49] Speaker A: They can podcast distribution platforms. [00:11:56] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:11:57] Speaker A: Tell us what that means. [00:12:00] Speaker B: That means they put us out there on places like Spotify and apparently Pandora because we've found ourselves out there and we don't have to do it. Castos does it for us. [00:12:11] Speaker A: That's right. [00:12:12] Speaker B: They put us out there, man. [00:12:13] Speaker A: They also offer multiple service. Offered, including, and not limited to. I put that in there. [00:12:20] Speaker B: I see that. [00:12:21] Speaker A: I hear that on things. Anyway, automated transcriptions. [00:12:28] Speaker B: All right. Not prescriptions. Transcriptions. [00:12:31] Speaker A: Maybe I need some prescriptions. Unlimited unloads and downloads. [00:12:35] Speaker B: Uploads. [00:12:37] Speaker A: What did I say? [00:12:37] Speaker B: Unloads. They gotta unload on us, man. [00:12:42] Speaker A: This is why. This is why Estos doesn't know. Okay, yeah. Downloads on all plans, fixed monthly pricing. I like that. [00:12:51] Speaker B: That's nice. [00:12:52] Speaker A: Automatic distribution everywhere, including Apple Podcast, Spotify, Mu, Amazon music, and even YouTube and Pandora. Even though it's not on my paper. No, you can make money with dynamic ad insertions one time or reoccurring recurring, recurring, recurring, recurring. Donations, paid private podcasts and more. I think I was supposed to pause there. [00:13:18] Speaker B: That's all right. You just keep on going. [00:13:20] Speaker A: Multiple reading. Well, multiple sources for data. Analytic analytics, analytics, analytics. [00:13:27] Speaker B: Anal licking. This thing is just Woody. Looking good. That's us, right? [00:13:35] Speaker A: Control your brand with customizable Podcast websites. Manage all your podcasts with one WordPress plugin, which our producer has no idea because he's never done it. Right. [00:13:50] Speaker B: But that's okay. [00:13:50] Speaker A: That was the last episode that I watched. We've talked about that. Use over. What user? What? Use our links. Oh, sorry. Use our links below for a 14 day free trial, man. [00:14:06] Speaker B: And then you two can act like this. What do we got? Oh, no, not again. [00:14:15] Speaker A: Oh, when you see Pringles, now, all you think about is the last. Yeah. [00:14:20] Speaker B: Oh, my goodness. [00:14:21] Speaker A: What we got there? [00:14:23] Speaker B: We got more of the Pringles hot ones. And this is yellow, so I don't know what that means. [00:14:30] Speaker A: I was a fan of the other ones. [00:14:32] Speaker B: Everyone you know, everyone but me was a fan of those other ones. [00:14:36] Speaker A: It's because you got the wussy mouth. [00:14:37] Speaker B: I do. And my tongue is already burning just thinking about sticking one of these in my mouth. [00:14:43] Speaker A: That really didn't sound right. Oh, horrible. Huh? [00:14:47] Speaker B: It smells like mustard. Like funky hot mustard. Not good mustard. [00:14:52] Speaker A: So not like my mustard chips. [00:14:54] Speaker B: I was trying to smell the. [00:14:56] Speaker A: What are you doing? Did you see that? He was like. [00:15:01] Speaker B: Smells like Styrofoam. See how bad this has messed with my mind already? Yeah. [00:15:10] Speaker A: Oh, come on now. Take two. You might like it. [00:15:13] Speaker B: I took two. [00:15:14] Speaker A: There you go. [00:15:15] Speaker B: Last time. Well, I got two and a half. [00:15:17] Speaker A: You must really be hungry. [00:15:19] Speaker B: No, I just. All right, Verde. [00:15:30] Speaker A: Yeah. Okay. Dude, I'm going all in. Boom. Look at that. Oh, yeah, this one's good. [00:15:44] Speaker B: Oh, God. [00:15:46] Speaker A: That good. [00:15:53] Speaker B: It's not as hot as the other one, but. Oh, it's burnt all the way down. Oh, okay. So on the hot sauces, this is not hotter than I said. That's not. It's not as hot as the other one. It's feeling pretty cold. Oh, I don't know, but it's burning my vocal cords. [00:16:23] Speaker A: I think I'm done for this episode. Oh. [00:16:31] Speaker B: It did have a different flavor. Before my mouth caught on fire, I actually tasted completely different flavor. And then I felt like I was in backdraft. [00:16:42] Speaker A: I feel like this is a different heat than the other ones. I think they're still very, very hot. [00:16:49] Speaker B: Is it burning your throat? [00:16:51] Speaker A: It is as it goes down, burning everything I got. [00:16:53] Speaker B: Yeah. Oh, you like this? Like you like the other ones? [00:17:00] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:17:00] Speaker B: Do you? [00:17:01] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:17:01] Speaker B: Oh, you're stupid. [00:17:02] Speaker A: Yeah, I am. Long tying and see, look. I did. [00:17:15] Speaker B: This is why I sniffed the microphone instead of the can. I knew it was coming. [00:17:25] Speaker A: I did. [00:17:26] Speaker B: Forgot I got those. [00:17:27] Speaker A: Now you're jumpy, like. [00:17:28] Speaker B: Oh, I am. [00:17:29] Speaker A: The chips are Coming for me. Oh, see, I found something that you didn't know. See, look at there, the unreleasing that they played. [00:17:39] Speaker B: Yeah, you did. [00:17:39] Speaker A: Little investigation. [00:17:40] Speaker B: See, that's why I got you here, man. [00:17:42] Speaker A: That's all it took. If I could do more of that, I'd be good. Oh, these are really good. So if you want something that's hot and tasty, don't have a wussy mouth, you can have this. [00:17:57] Speaker B: It had a good flavor right up until the point where it exploded. And the hot sauces are fantastic too. Wow. [00:18:07] Speaker A: Is that at the point where you were sniffing the mic? Is that when the explosion happened? [00:18:12] Speaker B: I sniffed the mic before I even got into my mouth. It was. I took that sniff of the can and it started messing with my brain and I hurt. Yeah, see, it's hot, huh? You need some ice water? I got water. I'm good. Okay. Oh, my goodness. [00:18:32] Speaker A: So what more cast those? Yes. Thank you. [00:18:35] Speaker B: No, I am not thanking castles for that. That was. Hey, they didn't do it. I did it. [00:18:40] Speaker A: Yeah, Castos for all your pockets. [00:18:42] Speaker B: They just support my poor decisions. [00:18:44] Speaker A: Oh. [00:18:46] Speaker B: That was hot. [00:18:48] Speaker A: What more can we say about all the King's horses? Except for some people have heard it and many others have not. [00:18:56] Speaker B: And we have not. [00:18:57] Speaker A: I'm annoyed. Well, we should go to basic park studios, check it out. [00:19:04] Speaker B: I'm going to one day. [00:19:06] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:19:07] Speaker B: The thing though is I'm just so ticked off at the state, you know, it's. It's just hard to find any. Anything positive to say about them as of late. [00:19:18] Speaker A: However, if Prince would have just left. [00:19:23] Speaker B: The will, I agree. [00:19:25] Speaker A: But none of this will be taking place, possibly. [00:19:28] Speaker B: No, I'm sure it would. They'd still fight. [00:19:31] Speaker A: Yeah, and they probably would sell off their crap to other again because, I. [00:19:35] Speaker B: Mean, depending on what he set up in the will, you know, this might be. He could have just left it to someone completely. You know, here. Here's something for Judith Hill. Or, you know, he might have left his family out altogether. So it all depends on what he would have set up in his will. But yeah, a lot of it's on him for not. And he knew. I mean, I've seen tons of interviews where he talks about, yeah, people will release it, but it'll be after I'm gone. And he didn't have a problem with that, you know, at least in the interviews. The problem is people are just getting greedy and stupid and power hungry and you got it. I'm sorry, my mouth is on fire. So that's the thing. That's why I'm having the problem. We went, think about it. We went all last year, 40th anniversary of Purple Rain the year before. They promised big things. It is going to be a year long celebration. We're going to do this right. [00:20:36] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:20:38] Speaker B: And they, they just jacked it from the get go. [00:20:41] Speaker A: Yep. [00:20:42] Speaker B: So we got absolutely nothing, you know, naughty, naughty. So I got zero, zero respect for any of them anyway. Like, you know me, I'll go on that rant all day long. [00:21:01] Speaker A: Pacheco. You say that name and you'll be okay. [00:21:05] Speaker B: Yeah, okay. I don't think so. But wait, we're gonna, we're gonna let that one. Right? So. All right. Anyway, if you guys want to reach out to us and talk to us about anything, give us, you know, ideas for things to talk about or, or snacks. You want to see us try? Snacks. You want to see us try? Doesn't have to be chips and it. [00:21:28] Speaker A: Doesn'T have to be hot. [00:21:30] Speaker B: No, it doesn't have to be hot. [00:21:32] Speaker A: It doesn't have to be sickly sour. [00:21:35] Speaker B: Just, you know, reach out. Touch Us Alpha Sweet podcast, Gmail. [00:22:10] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:22:12] Speaker A: Could be from that. Gonorrhea. [00:22:16] Speaker B: Of the elbow. [00:22:16] Speaker A: Yeah. Everything that we, every song we talk about on here, you will have on there. [00:22:23] Speaker B: Unless it's blocked. [00:22:25] Speaker A: Yeah, unless it's blocked. And eventually we're getting there. Eventually. 1999 just killed me. [00:22:30] Speaker B: Yeah, there's a lot there. [00:22:31] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:22:32] Speaker B: Yeah.
