[00:00:00] Speaker A: It is now Discover time. We are here to share Prince's works with the utmost authenticity, clarity and precision. This means there may be situations where the material being discussed may be sensitive or offensive to some. However, we have chosen to discuss his work as it was initially produced. We will not alter any of his original work to suit anyone's comfort, including our own. This podcast is to celebrate Prince and his works. [00:00:29] Speaker B: Thank you for your support and understanding. Now on to the show. [00:00:36] Speaker C: Hello. Welcome to Alphabet Suite podcast for the Prince Songbook. There are hundreds of songs to choose from. You have chosen. Welcome back to another episode of Alphabet Sweet podcast. I am your confused host, Timothy. [00:01:04] Speaker D: Is there always going to be a descriptor in there for you? [00:01:06] Speaker C: Sometimes. Sometimes. You know, I. I'm trying to think of something as I'm talking and it. [00:01:10] Speaker D: Doesn'T come to you. [00:01:11] Speaker C: Yeah, no. [00:01:14] Speaker D: I am your not so confused host. [00:01:16] Speaker B: Pat, and I am the least confused producer. [00:01:22] Speaker D: So what are we talking about today, Mr. Confused? Yes, it would be Prince. [00:01:29] Speaker B: Sort of. [00:01:31] Speaker D: Kind of, sorta all along the Watchtower. Yes. So why are we talking about this one? Because it's not technically a Prince song. [00:01:45] Speaker C: Howard Stern. [00:01:47] Speaker D: It's not a Howard Stern song either. [00:01:49] Speaker C: No, but I'm looking at Howard Stern. [00:01:51] Speaker D: Why are you looking at Howard Stern? [00:01:53] Speaker C: Cuz he's right there on the wiki page of the song. [00:01:55] Speaker D: Oh. [00:01:58] Speaker C: So. [00:01:59] Speaker D: So it's a song by Bob Dylan that Prince did. [00:02:06] Speaker B: Bob Dylan? [00:02:07] Speaker D: Yeah, yeah, it's a Bob Dylan song. Hendrix performed it. Hendrix made it big. Oh, but as Bob Dylan song. [00:02:15] Speaker B: I did not know that. [00:02:16] Speaker D: Yes. Learn something new every day, right? [00:02:18] Speaker B: I did. That's my check mark for today. I don't need to learn anything. [00:02:21] Speaker D: You're done. You can shut it all off now. [00:02:23] Speaker B: No more podcasts. [00:02:25] Speaker D: Yeah. [00:02:27] Speaker B: Come back tomorrow for another exciting episode. [00:02:32] Speaker D: Maybe Tim will be less Dragon Ball Z. Oh. So Prince did this song for the Super Bowl. He did a medley of this with the best of you, which surprise this. What's really cool is you really get to learn who. What artists that other artists like when. When they perform their songs live. You know what I mean? So doing all along the Watchtower did not surprise me because Prince is a Hendrix fan and I'll probably always associate this song with Hendrix over Bob Dylan. Yes. Yeah, everyone, I think everyone in the world does. But to hear the best of you, Bobby, you know, I was really surprised that he put in the best of you. You know why? Because isn't that a Foo Fighter song? Yes. Yeah, I thought that was a Foo Fighter song. [00:03:41] Speaker B: And so Prince is also a Dave Grohl fan. [00:03:43] Speaker D: Exactly. He is. That's rad. [00:03:47] Speaker C: But is he? [00:03:48] Speaker D: Yeah, he's not. [00:03:50] Speaker C: I know the story. [00:03:51] Speaker D: Tell me the story. [00:03:52] Speaker C: He's a Kurt Cobain fan. Foo Fighters ain't nothing but broken off. [00:03:57] Speaker D: Nirvana, but way better. [00:04:00] Speaker C: Not at all. [00:04:01] Speaker B: Oh, way better. [00:04:05] Speaker C: No, that's not the story. [00:04:06] Speaker D: I know. It is a story. [00:04:08] Speaker C: It's a good story. [00:04:09] Speaker D: Not really, but. Not really. [00:04:10] Speaker B: Prince would be a Kurt Cobain fan. [00:04:13] Speaker D: I don't think so. I don't think he's ever. I don't think. I don't recall ever doing Nirvana, but I know he has done other Foo Fighter songs, not just the Best of you, so. Yeah, just the fact that. I mean, think. When you think the stylistic music of Prince and Foo Fighters, they don't. There's nothing similar about them at all. So I thought that was cool that he did all along the Watchtower and Best of youf together. [00:04:39] Speaker B: You can definitely hear and see a lot of Hendrix and Princess playing, though. [00:04:43] Speaker D: Oh, yeah, big time. That. [00:04:45] Speaker B: That's gotta be one of his biggest influences. [00:04:47] Speaker D: Yeah. I mean, even when you watch him play, just watching him play, he plays like Hendrix. [00:04:56] Speaker B: You know, his whole body's in it. [00:04:59] Speaker D: Yeah, it's really cool. So he did make the. So this was live. But he did do, like, a studio. Quick little studio thing that he sent to the Howard Stern show. I'm guessing he did it in case something happened and they couldn't, like, perform live because, you know, the. The weather was bad at the Super Bowl. It rained when he was on stage. [00:05:25] Speaker B: No, no, no, no. It rained when he performed Purple Rain on stage. [00:05:30] Speaker D: That was God tier perfect, wasn't it? [00:05:34] Speaker B: There was purple lights everywhere. [00:05:36] Speaker D: Yeah. [00:05:38] Speaker C: They told him, it's raining, dude. He's like, can you make it rain more? [00:05:43] Speaker D: Yeah. [00:05:45] Speaker C: And them dancers, everybody with them freaking. What? Stilettos, whatever they're called. [00:05:49] Speaker D: And nobody slipped. [00:05:51] Speaker C: That shocked the hell out of me, man. It was a great, great performance. [00:05:55] Speaker B: That was. That is my number one. [00:05:57] Speaker C: Yes. [00:05:58] Speaker D: Oh, yeah. [00:05:58] Speaker B: Super Bowl. [00:05:59] Speaker D: And not just because it's Prince, just the entire thing. I mean, it could not have happened. Like. Like Aaron said it was just God tier moment, man, so. But he did do, like, a rehearsal. Sent it to Howard Stern. Howard never played the whole thing. He played a little bit, and I've heard that. I got that the live is much better. So you get to. [00:06:24] Speaker B: I want to go watch that performance now. It was that good. [00:06:30] Speaker D: I know. It really was. I know when. When they were rating a few years ago, rating the super bowl performances over all the years that was rated at number one at one time. It's always been in, like, the top five. It kind of bounces up and down depending on who, like, has performed after that, you know, because every year you get a different performance, and so that's been up there. Michael Jackson has been up there. I mean, but he's always in, like, the top five of best super bowl performances. So. Yeah, I. I enjoyed it. There's not a whole lot to say because I'm. In all honesty, I'm not a fan of the song to begin with. You know, the Hendrix version. I've never heard the Bob Dylan version. But the song itself is just not something. It's not my cup of tea. [00:07:28] Speaker B: And are you a Hendrix fan? [00:07:30] Speaker D: No. Honestly, not really. [00:07:32] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:07:33] Speaker D: Are you? Eh, yeah. [00:07:38] Speaker B: I like Prince more, but I also just. I respect Jimmy for what he did. [00:07:45] Speaker D: Yeah, absolutely. [00:07:46] Speaker B: But that doesn't really influence how much I like the music. Yeah, I'm not really into that, like. [00:07:52] Speaker D: Stoner, the 60s, psychedelic kind of stuff. [00:07:56] Speaker B: Yeah, not really into that. [00:07:57] Speaker D: Neither am I. And. But like you, he was amazing for what he did. Oh, yeah. [00:08:03] Speaker B: Dude can shred. [00:08:04] Speaker D: Yeah. So all props to Jimi Hendrix. Just not my cup of tea. Yeah. [00:08:10] Speaker B: Though I totally get and appreciate everyone who was influenced by that. [00:08:14] Speaker D: Cause it's. He's good. He is good. [00:08:20] Speaker B: No, it's also good. [00:08:22] Speaker D: Tim's notes. [00:08:23] Speaker B: Sometimes I think we'll get to those after we talk about our partner. [00:08:29] Speaker D: You want to talk about our partner? Who's our partner? [00:08:31] Speaker C: Tim Gustos for all your podcasting. Knees, bro. [00:08:36] Speaker D: All of them. [00:08:37] Speaker C: Everyone. [00:08:37] Speaker D: Every one of them. What do you think about that? [00:09:59] Speaker C: I think Aaron did it all better than you. [00:10:02] Speaker D: He does. Well, because he's got that voice, man. [00:10:05] Speaker C: It's like a porn. The porn voice. When he would do that, I'm telling you, I felt with the music and then him talking, I felt like he was getting ready to discuss a porn movie or something. [00:10:16] Speaker D: You were waiting for that music. So what do we got today? [00:10:26] Speaker C: Oh, it's snack time. [00:10:27] Speaker D: It is snack time. That's why we brought up Kastos, because we partner with Castos. [00:10:31] Speaker C: I like to let people know that it's snack time. [00:10:33] Speaker D: Oh, that's fine. [00:10:34] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:10:34] Speaker D: Oh, this one's gonna be a hard one for me. [00:10:36] Speaker C: What is it? [00:10:37] Speaker D: It is Oreo International Delight iced coffee. I do not like iced coffee at all. [00:10:45] Speaker C: This tastes nothing like iced coffee. [00:10:47] Speaker D: You've had this. [00:10:48] Speaker C: No, I already shook it up. It's Oreo. It's gonna be good. [00:10:54] Speaker D: Let's see what it sounds like. It just on me. All right. I'm okay. It didn't give me bad. I'm used to it. Every time you read the Castos prompting, it turned into porn anyway, so. Oh, yeah. That tastes like coffee. I bet you're going to like it, Oreo. You're going to like it. [00:11:34] Speaker C: It's all I smell. [00:11:35] Speaker D: Yeah. [00:11:41] Speaker C: Oreo. [00:11:42] Speaker D: You like that? [00:11:42] Speaker C: That's all I taste. [00:11:46] Speaker D: You. Oh, look. I think it's nap time. Producer shaking his head. Yeah, too. That's nice. You like that? I don't like that. All I taste is coffee. [00:12:05] Speaker C: You're weird. [00:12:09] Speaker B: I mean, yeah, it tastes coffee. [00:12:11] Speaker D: Yeah, that tastes. That tastes flavored coffee. [00:12:15] Speaker B: Cream. Chocolate. [00:12:18] Speaker D: Yeah. [00:12:18] Speaker C: So let me explain something to you. [00:12:20] Speaker D: Okay, Lay it on me. [00:12:22] Speaker C: They had this creamer from International Delights. [00:12:30] Speaker D: Yeah. [00:12:31] Speaker C: At the people that did this. What? [00:12:38] Speaker D: Caffeine. [00:12:39] Speaker C: Okay, so they made this creamer. Oreo creamer. [00:12:43] Speaker D: Okay. Don't tell me you drank just the creamer. Did you? [00:12:48] Speaker C: No, actually, I never did try that. [00:12:50] Speaker D: Oh, okay. I was waiting for you to say I liked it so much I just chugged the creamer. [00:12:54] Speaker B: Like licking the hot mustard powder. [00:12:59] Speaker C: I think I wanted to quit selling you people stuff. So they made it. That was my by far, my favorite creamer ever. [00:13:14] Speaker D: Okay, you just said you didn't have it. [00:13:16] Speaker C: It's a creamer. This is iced coffee. [00:13:21] Speaker D: Okay? [00:13:22] Speaker C: It's different. [00:13:23] Speaker D: Okay? [00:13:24] Speaker C: It's creamer for coffee, not iced coffee. Not this. Oh, it's creamer. [00:13:34] Speaker D: So what you're saying is it's creamer. [00:13:36] Speaker B: Yeah, it's What? You add to your own coffee. Correct. And then you make coffee for Mom. You're not that illiterate. [00:13:41] Speaker D: I don't make coffee for your mom. I buy coffee for her. [00:13:44] Speaker B: Well, you used to make her fancy stuff with her fancy Keurig. [00:13:47] Speaker D: Yeah, yeah, but I was just throwing stuff in there just to see if she would drink it. [00:13:52] Speaker C: Really? [00:13:54] Speaker D: She would buy, like, all these different creamers and syrups. And I'm like, let's see, if I put these two in here, will she like it? What if I put three or four in there, you know? And she always liked it. Now I don't know if that's because she loved me. And just. Yeah, you can just take that and. Yeah, Erin's going to be hyped now. Can't drink at all. [00:14:20] Speaker B: We got other people that are going to want to try that. [00:14:22] Speaker D: Yeah, I know. Especially your mom, so. [00:14:26] Speaker B: Oh, yeah, she's gonna love it. [00:14:27] Speaker C: Were you done with your story there? [00:14:29] Speaker D: What story? [00:14:30] Speaker C: The story you were just telling. [00:14:31] Speaker D: Yeah, I'm really telling much of a story. [00:14:34] Speaker C: It's like my Oreo creamer that you're. I don't know if you're not getting or. [00:14:40] Speaker D: I mean, dude, I understand. [00:14:41] Speaker C: You understand that. [00:14:42] Speaker D: Yeah. [00:14:43] Speaker C: Oh, okay. Because you acted like. Well, you never said you didn't have it. [00:14:46] Speaker D: Well, because you. I asked. When you said the creamer, I was like, you're gonna say you drank it on. You're like, no, I never tried it. [00:14:51] Speaker C: Okay, so let me get back to my story. You. You just. You're too long winded. [00:14:55] Speaker B: Excuse me. [00:14:59] Speaker C: So, like, Prince is up here. Everybody else is way down here. [00:15:03] Speaker D: Okay. [00:15:03] Speaker C: Jimi Hendrix included. [00:15:05] Speaker D: Okay. [00:15:06] Speaker C: All of them. [00:15:07] Speaker D: Right. Oreo creamer is everything else Oreo Kramer's Prince level, huh? [00:15:13] Speaker C: Look, Oreo Kramer is butt licking good. Just saying. [00:15:19] Speaker D: So that's what you pour on butts to. [00:15:22] Speaker B: Speaking of butt looking good, we have a merch line that you can buy. [00:15:25] Speaker D: We do. [00:15:26] Speaker B: In the description. [00:15:27] Speaker D: Yeah, we got some really cool stuff. I'm really hyped about it. We're going to get some of the merch and we're going to have it on the table. [00:15:35] Speaker B: Sorry for interrupting here. [00:15:37] Speaker D: No, I'm glad you brought that up because I forgot all about that. [00:15:41] Speaker B: Put a lot of work into that. [00:15:42] Speaker D: Yeah, it's pretty cool. They don't make Oreo creamer anymore. [00:15:47] Speaker C: Not at all. [00:15:48] Speaker D: Well, apparently it was not up here, but it was. [00:15:50] Speaker C: It sure was. You know, I mean, they've got a big, like, thing. [00:15:54] Speaker D: Did you look online? You could probably get it for, like, 75 a bottle. They stopped making it all together. [00:15:59] Speaker C: Yeah. They're just not. They're not, you know. [00:16:02] Speaker D: Was it a limited time thing? [00:16:04] Speaker C: It was, but then it came, and they said that they're going to be. [00:16:08] Speaker D: Yeah, it's going to be. [00:16:09] Speaker C: Going to be there. [00:16:09] Speaker D: Okay. [00:16:10] Speaker C: You know, like the snicker one, right? Snicker one's pretty good, you know, but it's. You know, the Reese's is horrible. It tastes burnt. They took it and stopped making it, but brought that back. It's like McDonald's. You bring the McRib. [00:16:25] Speaker B: Terrible sandwich. [00:16:26] Speaker C: It's horrible. But you stopped and have not brought back the McChedd melt thing. The mix, the cheddar. [00:16:36] Speaker B: The McChedden jalapeno cheddar sandwich thing. [00:16:40] Speaker C: No, it was onion. It was teriyaki sauce. The cheddar melts back from. I think in the 80s. It came back, like, in the 90s. It actually came back, like, I don't know, what, 10 years ago? And then. [00:16:54] Speaker D: So they keep trying it. [00:16:56] Speaker B: It's probably still sold in Japan. [00:16:59] Speaker C: It is. Yeah. It was a big seller here in America. [00:17:02] Speaker D: Are you sure? [00:17:03] Speaker C: Yes. [00:17:04] Speaker D: Okay. [00:17:05] Speaker C: It's. Dude, at one point, it was a bigger seller than the McRib when the McRib was good. I don't. I never liked it. I think it's horrible. [00:17:14] Speaker B: It was never good. [00:17:15] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:17:17] Speaker B: Speaking of McDonald's food, we've been talking about these snack wraps for a while. [00:17:21] Speaker D: Yes, we have. [00:17:23] Speaker B: I want my. I want my damn snack wraps back. [00:17:26] Speaker D: Well, they're coming back with something. I don't know if it's going to be what you're. [00:17:29] Speaker B: I hope so. I have a positive outlook, but if not, I. I could still default to Arby's. [00:17:34] Speaker D: Okay. Did you have theirs yet? No. Oh, okay. [00:17:38] Speaker C: I'm hungry. [00:17:39] Speaker D: So am I. [00:17:40] Speaker B: That's why I keep pushing snack time. It's noon and I haven't eaten. [00:17:45] Speaker D: Yeah, I'm hungry. I haven't eaten. Yeah, well, I've eaten now. [00:17:50] Speaker B: A few chips and a bad Oreo. [00:17:53] Speaker D: Yeah. And a nasty coffee. Nasty coffee. Anyway, I mean, there's not much more to talk about with this song. [00:18:01] Speaker C: I like that you say that. [00:18:02] Speaker B: Thanks, Castos. [00:18:03] Speaker C: Yes, thank you, Castos. [00:18:05] Speaker D: Like that. Who says what? [00:18:07] Speaker C: There's nothing much more to say about the song. [00:18:09] Speaker D: Why do you like this? [00:18:09] Speaker C: I have freaking notes, dude. [00:18:10] Speaker D: Oh, you do? We haven't even touched on your notes yet. [00:18:13] Speaker C: I. I've got, like. [00:18:15] Speaker D: You got, like, a page and a half of notes on this song? [00:18:17] Speaker C: No, down here at the bottom. And then most of this page. [00:18:20] Speaker B: Our mascots on the table. [00:18:22] Speaker D: He is. Look, he's going to cover up that coffee. He doesn't like that coffee either. He doesn't want anyone to see that. [00:18:26] Speaker C: He'S secretly going to drink it. [00:18:28] Speaker D: Is that what it is? [00:18:29] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:18:30] Speaker B: That might be a bad idea. The cat wired on caffeine. [00:18:34] Speaker D: That would be funny. So let's talk about your notes, then. [00:18:38] Speaker C: All right. I've listened to. It was. It was rough because there's so many on the hard drive. [00:18:45] Speaker D: Oh, you went through all. [00:18:47] Speaker C: Not every one of them. I just couldn't do it. It was so much. But I listened to, like, three different versions of, you know, Prince thing. [00:18:54] Speaker D: Yeah. [00:18:55] Speaker C: There was one that was like a minute and something, then one that was like 30 seconds and then, you know, the. The super full one. [00:19:05] Speaker D: You seem a little frustrated about it. [00:19:07] Speaker C: Yeah. Because, you know, I don't know. I've got mixed feelings about the Prince's version of it. [00:19:13] Speaker D: Okay. Is it because it's Prince and you don't want to dislike something he did? [00:19:18] Speaker C: No. I mean, there's times that I would listen to it, and I'm like, yeah. But then, like, five seconds later, I'm like, God, you know, I mean, if it wasn't Prince, I probably would have just turned it off. [00:19:30] Speaker D: Yeah. [00:19:31] Speaker C: You know, I just didn't. [00:19:32] Speaker D: The song really isn't a great song for my musical taste. [00:19:37] Speaker C: Now. [00:19:40] Speaker B: I do feel, personally like it kind. [00:19:42] Speaker D: Of drags a little bit, the song. [00:19:44] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:19:45] Speaker D: So what do you think of the song itself? [00:19:49] Speaker B: Me? [00:19:49] Speaker D: Yeah. [00:19:52] Speaker B: It's fine. [00:19:55] Speaker D: Do with or without. [00:19:56] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:19:57] Speaker D: Okay. [00:19:58] Speaker B: I mean, it's cool that he did it, and then the context of, you know, at the super bowl and all that, but I didn't even realize at the time that he also did the Foo Fighters covers, which is more exciting for me than Hendrix, because I like Foo Fighters. [00:20:16] Speaker C: So I don't know if you listen to that particular one. Sound on Sound and Vision version. Sound and Vision version. [00:20:30] Speaker B: Yeah. We haven't talked about covers in Santa. [00:20:33] Speaker D: For a while because there's none. Everything we've been doing, there's none. [00:20:40] Speaker C: Okay, so you didn't listen to that. I'm just. So then you couldn't. [00:20:43] Speaker D: I only listened to the super bowl one and the Howard Stern one. There's people talking in the Howard Stern one. [00:20:49] Speaker C: What is that? [00:20:50] Speaker D: That's Howard Stern talking radio Show. [00:20:52] Speaker C: And. And there's a female. [00:20:54] Speaker D: I'm like, God, yeah, That's. [00:20:55] Speaker C: Shut up. [00:20:56] Speaker D: Yeah. [00:20:57] Speaker C: So. [00:20:57] Speaker D: Okay, so they didn't even play at all. And I don't know why he would even send it to the Howard Stern show. [00:21:05] Speaker C: Yeah, I don't. [00:21:06] Speaker D: Well, that was. [00:21:07] Speaker C: Stern's a perv anyway, so maybe. [00:21:08] Speaker D: Yeah, but Prince and Howard Stern. That seems like an odd. [00:21:11] Speaker B: Yeah, you know, maybe it was a label thing. [00:21:16] Speaker D: I mean, at that time, I don't think Prince was with a label, and it was that 2007. [00:21:24] Speaker B: I think I was in high school when that super bowl happened. [00:21:27] Speaker D: Yeah, well, 2007, so you would have been 15. So. Yeah, it really. He wasn't with the label then, so I can't picture. [00:21:40] Speaker B: Well, it would have been 14. Super bowl in February. [00:21:42] Speaker D: Yeah. [00:21:44] Speaker B: So eighth grade. [00:21:46] Speaker D: Eighth grade. Ninth grade. Somewhere around there. Anyway. Go ahead. [00:21:51] Speaker C: Okay. [00:21:51] Speaker D: So, I mean, even if. [00:21:54] Speaker B: Like, even if he was with his own. So I'm sorry, I'm just on the label thing. If he was with his own label, like, there's still, like, an owner. [00:22:01] Speaker D: Yeah. But when you're the owner of your own label, you make your own rules. [00:22:03] Speaker B: Was he, though? [00:22:04] Speaker D: Yeah. [00:22:04] Speaker B: Or did he just found he. [00:22:06] Speaker D: He only signs distribution deals after a certain point. Like, in 90s, early 2000s, it was just distribution deals to distribute his music. [00:22:16] Speaker B: Otherwise, part of that, too. [00:22:18] Speaker D: Otherwise, he did it all. [00:22:19] Speaker B: Or it could have been something with whatever network was running the Super Bowl. Yeah, you know, Fox, NBC, or whatever the heck it was. [00:22:29] Speaker D: No, no, I just found it odd. [00:22:31] Speaker B: There's probably some sort of underpinning that necessitated it. Or he just like, hey, I'm gonna. I'm gonna just. [00:22:39] Speaker D: In a Prince fashion, I'm gonna do something unexpected. Yeah, yeah. [00:22:43] Speaker B: Here, Stern, have this just in case. [00:22:46] Speaker C: Maybe Stern asked for it. [00:22:47] Speaker D: No, Howard Stern was surprised that he got it. [00:22:50] Speaker C: Really? [00:22:51] Speaker D: Yeah. [00:22:51] Speaker C: That would explain why. Who is this? [00:22:53] Speaker D: Yeah, yeah, exactly. [00:22:54] Speaker B: Was he on, like, a. A popularity kick at the time? [00:22:58] Speaker D: Prince Stern? [00:22:59] Speaker B: Like, was he on the rise for some reason? [00:23:02] Speaker D: No, he was already big. He's been. [00:23:04] Speaker B: Yeah, I know he's big. Like, everybody knows Howard Stern, but was he, like, popping off for some reason in the early 90s where. [00:23:11] Speaker D: I have no idea. The guy's always popping off and then. [00:23:16] Speaker B: Yeah, he's got something going on. [00:23:17] Speaker D: Yeah. [00:23:18] Speaker B: And it's usually not good. [00:23:20] Speaker D: Yeah. [00:23:22] Speaker B: There's boobies on his show, though, if you're into that. [00:23:26] Speaker D: Who isn't in the boobies? Other than Tim's sitting over there. He's chomping at the bit to get to his notes. I'm sorry, dude. [00:23:36] Speaker B: I'm not usually the interrupter, but I. I got on a tangent that time also. [00:23:40] Speaker D: Boobies, boobies. Go ahead now. [00:23:45] Speaker B: Yeah. I'll shut up. I'll even turn me off if you want. [00:23:48] Speaker D: No, don't. He's happy to be back out here with you. That's it. Saves us from having to buy a fat head of you. [00:23:59] Speaker C: Who is John Stamos? No, but I'm tired of his stupid commercials. Now he annoys me. He's like trying to be all sexual and what the flip is wrong? I just don't. He's ugly in his old age, man. You know, he was a good looking guy back in the day. [00:24:20] Speaker D: Not now. [00:24:20] Speaker C: Not now. He's horrible. [00:24:21] Speaker D: What is he. [00:24:22] Speaker C: Shut the hell up. You know, I don't want to get hyped. [00:24:26] Speaker D: Too late. [00:24:26] Speaker C: Yeah. John. M A Y E R. John Mayer. Okay. Who's that? [00:24:31] Speaker B: You don't know John Mayer? [00:24:33] Speaker C: No. [00:24:33] Speaker B: Like the John Mayer. [00:24:35] Speaker C: Is he like a singer? Is he in a band? What? [00:24:38] Speaker D: No, he's not in a band. He. [00:24:39] Speaker B: He's probably one of the most famous white boy pop music guitarists. [00:24:43] Speaker D: Well, he's kind of folky too. Yeah, he did Your Body's Wonderland. You would know him if you heard him. [00:24:51] Speaker B: Your Body is Wonderland. [00:24:54] Speaker D: I bet producer Aaron could get a snippet of that real quick. But why. Why are you asking who John Mayer is? [00:25:01] Speaker C: I'm gonna wait and see if he's got a snippet for me first. Cause I don't want to get interrupted again. [00:25:05] Speaker D: Well, but you're asking a question. [00:25:08] Speaker C: Yeah, and I want to know who he is. [00:25:09] Speaker B: You might know this one better. Is it coming through? [00:25:12] Speaker D: Yeah. [00:25:16] Speaker C: One, two. One, two. [00:25:31] Speaker D: Got that look. [00:25:37] Speaker C: No idea. Beat it. So we keep waiting Waiting on the world to change we keep on waiting no, get them. Get them. [00:25:50] Speaker D: Wonderland. [00:25:53] Speaker B: Wow. [00:25:54] Speaker D: Yeah. I can't believe you don't know John Mayer. [00:26:03] Speaker C: You got to remember I. For a long while. I've. I don't. Yeah, but he was. [00:26:08] Speaker D: He was huge, man. Boy's got some skills. Yeah. I love John. [00:26:22] Speaker C: Mary can do some crazy courses My. [00:26:24] Speaker D: Brain just cannot rip. [00:26:30] Speaker C: And if you want love we'll make it Swim in a deep sea of blankets Take all. [00:26:41] Speaker D: Your big plants Wait till it gets to the chorus. Maybe I don't like the song, but really. Okay. [00:27:01] Speaker C: I don't really care for his voice. [00:27:02] Speaker D: Oh, I love John Mayer. [00:27:03] Speaker C: Sorry. [00:27:04] Speaker D: Very talented, man. [00:27:05] Speaker C: I'm sorry. [00:27:05] Speaker B: Very, very talented. [00:27:07] Speaker D: Yeah. Anyway. [00:27:08] Speaker C: Anyway, I listened to him in a group. Dead. Dead and Company. [00:27:14] Speaker D: Okay. [00:27:16] Speaker C: They did this on. It was really good. [00:27:18] Speaker D: Yeah. [00:27:18] Speaker C: Yeah, they did it really good. He played guitar. You know, there was another guy that was old guy. I don't know who this, you know, Dead company is. But you know, beard, like maybe in his 60s, 70s. No, not grateful Dead. [00:27:32] Speaker B: Spin off. [00:27:33] Speaker C: Yeah, that's kind of what it reminded me of. The. The look and all that. Yeah. So it was really good, huh? I enjoyed that. [00:27:41] Speaker D: Where'd you find that? [00:27:42] Speaker C: At YouTube. [00:27:43] Speaker D: Oh, yeah. And by accident on this, huh? [00:27:47] Speaker C: Huh? [00:27:47] Speaker D: Oh, by accident. [00:27:48] Speaker C: By accident. [00:27:49] Speaker D: Usually you go down the rabbit hole and. [00:27:51] Speaker C: No. Well, then I got to Bob Dylan. [00:27:56] Speaker D: So you listen to his version. [00:27:58] Speaker C: I did. [00:27:58] Speaker D: And. [00:28:01] Speaker C: You can edit that. Beep. His voice is freaking horrible. [00:28:05] Speaker D: Who the hell listens to his guy? [00:28:06] Speaker C: He sucks. [00:28:07] Speaker D: That's Bob Dylan. [00:28:08] Speaker C: He is horrible. Stop singing. It was terrible. Really? Have you not listened to his version of this? [00:28:15] Speaker D: No, I did not listen to his version of this, but I've listened to a lot of Bob Dylan. [00:28:18] Speaker C: Horrible. [00:28:19] Speaker D: Yeah, I'm not a fan of Bob Dylan's voice either. Don't get me wrong. I'm not trying to stand up for the guy. He's got a very unique voice and. [00:28:27] Speaker C: Unique. [00:28:27] Speaker B: He's a big hater. [00:28:29] Speaker C: He's horrible. No, unique. It's garbage. That's my opinion. [00:28:35] Speaker D: Okay. [00:28:36] Speaker C: Okay. [00:28:37] Speaker D: I'm just saying tell me how you really feel. [00:28:38] Speaker C: Yeah. Then I listen to Jimi Hendrix. [00:28:40] Speaker D: Yeah. [00:28:41] Speaker C: I can't stand Jimi Hendrick's voice. I think he can. I don't think he can sing at all. Badass guitarist. He can't sing. Horrible. However. [00:28:52] Speaker D: So he's a badass guitarist, but he's got an ass bad voice. [00:28:55] Speaker C: You got that right. I don't know how people could get into that kind of. I just. [00:29:00] Speaker D: Music enhancers. [00:29:02] Speaker C: It had a lot more stronger than the ones I had. [00:29:05] Speaker D: 60S and 70s were music enhancing ages. Yeah. [00:29:08] Speaker C: Terrible. Okay, so. But on a good note, Michael Hedges. [00:29:13] Speaker D: Okay. [00:29:14] Speaker C: You know who that is? [00:29:14] Speaker D: Yes. [00:29:15] Speaker C: Okay. He did it. [00:29:22] Speaker D: Is this the Grateful Dead one? [00:29:25] Speaker B: No, this is Bob Dylan live in 2004. [00:29:48] Speaker D: Oddly enough. [00:29:49] Speaker B: About the Rock and Roll hall of. [00:29:51] Speaker C: Fame, by the way, is somebody squeezing his nuts while he's. [00:29:54] Speaker D: I mean, oddly enough, he's got a son, Jacob Dylan, who does music. Oh my goodness. This boy is bad. [00:30:02] Speaker B: In a good way. [00:30:03] Speaker D: Yeah. Like, if you ever want to hear Jacob Dylan, look up the Wallflowers. That's his band. Wallflowers. [00:30:09] Speaker B: I see that. [00:30:11] Speaker D: You would know the Wallflowers. [00:30:12] Speaker C: No frickin way. Yeah, his son. [00:30:15] Speaker D: That's his son's band. [00:30:17] Speaker C: I didn't know that. [00:30:18] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:30:19] Speaker C: I love the wallflowers, dude. [00:30:21] Speaker D: Oh, they are amazing. [00:30:22] Speaker B: He was also on the Joe Rogan Experience five months ago. [00:30:25] Speaker D: Who? [00:30:26] Speaker B: Jacob Dylan. [00:30:26] Speaker D: Was he? Yeah. Oh, the boys. He's. He's good. He's got his father's skill with a better voice. [00:30:33] Speaker B: New album come out in July. [00:30:34] Speaker D: The Wallflowers. [00:30:36] Speaker B: Huh. [00:30:37] Speaker D: Cool. [00:30:37] Speaker C: Wait a minute. You said he's got his father's skills but a better voice? Yeah, no, he's got his father's skills. [00:30:43] Speaker D: And a good voice. [00:30:44] Speaker C: And a voice. A very good voice. I don't know. It's. [00:30:47] Speaker D: Yeah. [00:30:48] Speaker C: Anyway. [00:30:49] Speaker D: Okay. [00:30:49] Speaker C: Michael Hedges. [00:30:50] Speaker D: Yes. [00:30:52] Speaker C: I really enjoyed that version. It was like a acoustic type. Okay. And I think Prince's version kind of maybe my problem with it. It's. It's too much going on. [00:31:09] Speaker D: So you think it's. This song should be stripped down. [00:31:12] Speaker C: You got it. [00:31:15] Speaker B: It was too long with the Mamas and the Papas. [00:31:17] Speaker C: It was too busy, man. Princess version. Just too busy with a song. [00:31:22] Speaker D: Who did the Mamas and the Papas? [00:31:24] Speaker B: Jacob Dillon did a song with him. [00:31:26] Speaker D: Oh, I didn't think they were still around. [00:31:29] Speaker B: This was five years ago. [00:31:31] Speaker D: Yeah. Because I know one of them passed away a long time ago. [00:31:37] Speaker B: Well, I mean, Lincoln Park's still going. [00:31:39] Speaker D: Yeah. [00:31:40] Speaker C: All right. So, you know, I enjoy. [00:31:42] Speaker D: I'm guessing you kind of went down this thing to find, like, other people doing this song. [00:31:47] Speaker C: No, I put in the name of the song. [00:31:51] Speaker D: Yeah. [00:31:52] Speaker C: And lo and behold, all these different artists came up. [00:31:55] Speaker D: So where'd you put the name? On the drive? [00:31:57] Speaker C: YouTube. [00:31:57] Speaker D: Oh, on YouTube. [00:31:58] Speaker C: Yeah. And so that's where I'm like, Jimi Hendrix, Bob Dylan. [00:32:02] Speaker D: What? So you thought this was a print song that all these people were doing covers of? [00:32:06] Speaker C: I didn't know there was covers. I didn't know he covered it. I just didn't know that. [00:32:11] Speaker D: All right, now I'm with you, you know? Yeah. So apparently there's versions of this song that you do like. [00:32:23] Speaker C: Yeah. Yes. [00:32:24] Speaker B: Just not the one we're talking about. [00:32:26] Speaker C: Michael Hedges is. Is the best that I. For me, that I've heard. His. His voice actually belongs in this for this song. [00:32:34] Speaker D: Okay. [00:32:34] Speaker C: You know, I. I just don't know the meaning of the song. I'm just. My head hurt last night, and I'm listening to it and, like, I don't know, talking about. But this guy is really good. And I could actually hear more of the words and understand more of the words from. [00:32:53] Speaker D: Did you look up the lyrics? [00:32:54] Speaker C: No, I didn't bother. I had a headache. Migraine, so I'm trying all that aspartame. [00:32:59] Speaker D: Yep. [00:33:00] Speaker C: You know, it could be, but, you know, I mean, if I had to listen to the song, I'd listen to The Michael. [00:33:07] Speaker D: Michael Hedges. [00:33:07] Speaker C: Yeah. Just. [00:33:08] Speaker D: Okay. [00:33:08] Speaker C: It's really good. Didn't annoy me. You know it. You gotta listen to it. [00:33:13] Speaker D: I can check it out. Yeah, yeah. [00:33:16] Speaker C: Bob Dylan. Stay away from it. [00:33:18] Speaker D: But Jacob Dylan. [00:33:19] Speaker C: Jacob Dylan. [00:33:21] Speaker D: Yeah. Listen to the wallflowers. [00:33:22] Speaker C: I did not know that. [00:33:24] Speaker D: Yeah, that's Jacob Dillon. [00:33:25] Speaker B: I didn't either. [00:33:26] Speaker C: Fudge. [00:33:27] Speaker B: I learned two things today. [00:33:29] Speaker D: Oh, you're. Well, that's too much, man. You got tomorrow off. [00:33:33] Speaker B: My brain's gonna pop. [00:33:35] Speaker D: You don't have to learn anything tomorrow. [00:33:36] Speaker C: Hey, look, this is a long episode, so I'm not gonna tell my story. [00:33:40] Speaker D: I won't tell your story next episode. [00:33:42] Speaker C: You got it? [00:33:42] Speaker D: Okay. So are we good? Is that all you got? That was some good notes, man. I really enjoyed that. Yeah, I'm glad you. You brought all that up. That's. Thank you, sir. [00:33:52] Speaker C: Thank you. [00:33:53] Speaker D: All right, so until next time, people. [00:33:56] Speaker C: Uh oh, uh oh. [00:33:58] Speaker D: We forgot Facebook everything. We forgot that. Yeah. [00:34:02] Speaker C: Alphabet Sweet podcast on the Facebook. No freaking X or Twitter because they are horrible. Elon Musk, what is you doing? [00:34:10] Speaker D: Alphasweet podcast at gmail and patreon.com. [00:34:15] Speaker B: Alphabensuite podcast where you can watch behind the scenes compilations, unboxings and ad free releases. [00:34:24] Speaker C: How the hell does he remember all that? [00:34:26] Speaker D: He's young. We're old. [00:34:27] Speaker B: No, dude, I take brain enhancing. [00:34:30] Speaker D: Oh, oh, not music enhancers. [00:34:33] Speaker C: Is there such a thing? I want to talk to you about that off camera. You okay? We're done. [00:34:38] Speaker D: All right, man. [00:34:39] Speaker C: Peace. Is there such thing as.
